Job Brief:
As a Property & Miscellaneous Underwriter, you’ll play a key role in assessing and managing risks for Property and Miscellaneous Insurance classes. You’ll be at the forefront of underwriting decisions while collaborating with various teams to drive growth and ensure compliance.
Job Responsibilities:
Underwriting Excellence:
- Assess risks for Property and Miscellaneous classes with a keen eye on profitability.
- Regularly review underwriting guidelines and performance, ensuring alignment with Company’s Underwriting and Treaty standards.
- Act as a referral point and support the sales team in expanding the business.
- Work closely with the Product and Pricing teams to develop new products and enhance existing schemes.
Portfolio Management:
- Provide in-depth portfolio analysis, including monitoring key ratios to maintain profitability targets.
- Identify underperforming accounts by reviewing claims and portfolio reports, and implement corrective action plans.
- Support the execution of strategies to improve overall portfolio performance.
Systems and Processes:
- Serve as the key owner of the underwriting system, focusing on the quotation module and driving continuous enhancements.
- Collaborate with IT and project management teams for system updates and improvements.
- Lead User Acceptance Testing (UAT) and system testing during product launches.
- Manage system configurations for underwriting products and identify opportunities for process optimization.
Job Requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Economics, Finance, Business Administration, Actuarial Science, or a related field.
- Experience in underwriting or risk assessment is a plus.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
- A growth mindset with the drive to support business development initiatives.
- Team player with excellent communication skills, capable of fostering collaboration and driving change.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, attention to detail, and an eye for improvement.
