National Highways have an excellent opportunity for a Construction Assurance Manger to join our team in the East region. The Construction Assurance Manager will play a key role in the delivery of National Highways Capital Investment Schemes by representing the companies interests on civil engineering construction and maintenance sites. Reporting directly to the Construction Manager, you will actively ensure construction schemes are delivered in line with time, cost, quality and safety standards, and customer experience is not adversely impacted. Please note additional and/or unsociable working hours including night working may be required for which there will be paid overtime and/or a nightwork uplift. 

This role will require travel across the East region and can be based from either Bedford, Cambridge or Ipswich.

You will also be required to drive as part of your role and you will need to have no more than 3 points to be considered for this position and during employment.
 
What you'll be leading on

• Assuring the completion of planned works to agreed standards and escalate any concerns to the Construction Manager, in line with agreed governance requirements.
• Ensuring that all works are constructed in line with: CDM regulations, HSE Legislation, Chapter 8 requirements, Design Manual for Roads and Bridges (DMRB) and Manual of Contract Documents for Highways Works (MCHW).
• Ensuring Project Managers receive regular and timely feedback on scheme construction progress, risks, early warnings, design related issues, and act as the initial point of escalation for any on-site issues that need to be resolved.
• Acting as liaison between all key supply chain partners and co-ordinate the delivery programme, ensuring buildability reviews are carried out on all projects.
• Maintaining good liaison with Project Managers and Commercial & Procurement colleagues, providing relevant and timely information on Early Warnings and Compensation Events

To be successful

• Proven highways/structures maintenance/construction experience; experience of working on high speed Trunk Road/Motorway Networks is desirable
• Knowledge of site-based processes, relevant legislation, practices and polices for health & safety, environmental and quality management, including good understanding of the DMRB, MCHW, Chapter 8 of the Traffic Signs Manual and CDM Regulations.
• Institution of Occupational Safety and Health (IOSH) or Site Management Safety Training Scheme (SMSTS) preferred.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills including stakeholder management, with a strong customer focus and managing geographically dispersed teams.
• Experienced in using the NEC 4 ECC form of contract.

Location: Southern Region, central location preferred, splitting your time between our offices in Leighton Buzzard and Basingstoke and Satellite offices in Bristol, East Anglian, South Brent & Welwyn

Our Head of Operations is a senior role in our business, fundamentally you are the driver of success in the South region which encompasses delivery of several multimillion-pound long term contracts for our clients, offering security and stability. Total regional turnover circa £35m.

Predominantly centred around Reactive Repairs and Planned Refurbishment projects in a Social Housing environments. Providing the vision, you will lead and motivate your team of circa 100 employees plus sub-contractors, to deliver excellence for our customers over the vast programmes of works and with the support of your Commercial team, manage the P&L to provide a profitable output for the business

With overall responsibility for the development, implementation, monitoring and review of the regional strategy, your focus will be to maximise profit growth, through the delivery of right first-time services. To support you, an established Commercial team will manage the regions cost control and your Operational teams are set up to deliver a best-in-class customer service whilst ensuring health and safety is at the forefront of everything we do.

An outline of your responsibilities as a Head of Operations

Drive performance and excellence for our customers, working to service level standards
Manage the commercials by regularly reviewing P & L, reporting success to Board level
Develops and communicates clear vision and direction and ensures all teams within the region understand the goals and understands contribution
Develop long-term strategic relationships with your clients
Provides regular strategic and operational updates to the Board for the areas of responsibility
Identifies opportunities to expand services to existing clients and presents robust business cases for new work
Uses networks to identify opportunities with new clients and/or new services, presenting thorough and robust business cases to the Board of Directors
Ensures that appropriate due diligence is completed ahead of all bids to ensure commercial viability
Takes ownership for team development and progression within the region, proactively and positively managing talent and succession for the present and future success of the business
About You

As an experienced Head of Operations, you will have previously worked in a Senior Leadership role, managing a vast program of works within a Social Housing environment. You will be experienced in providing the vision and direction for your team to deliver excellence within a customer centric environment whilst strategically focusing on the future of your region, their performance and ultimately driving profit through their delivery. You will have strong stakeholder management skills, excellent client relationships skills and a passion for leading people. You will need to hold a Full UK driving licence and the role is subject to a DBS check.

Head of Procurement -Construction - Whitbread - Dunstable
Salary: £110 - £120K+ £7K Car allowance + Bonus up to 40%

What you'll do:
Reporting to the Procurement and Supply Chain Director you'll be responsible for sourcing all construction service activity for our UK business including the appointment and management of key contractors and suppliers through;

Lead, coach and set direction for group property procurement team across UK on day-to-day activities and department strategy.

What you'll need:

Previous proven experience of developing, documenting and implement procurement strategies working in property, construction or similar background managing large multi-million-pound budgets.
A CIPS qualification or Quantity Surveyor would be beneficial but not essential.
You will be a commercially driven individual with the ability to analyse financial information to influence procurement strategy and drive cost efficiencies.
Able to demonstrate strong problem-solving, lateral thinking, project management, planning organizational and interpersonal skills.
An exceptional communicator with the ability to build effective relationships across internal stakeholders at all levels of the business up to Executive level and with external contractors/suppliers.
