Position Overview:
As a Construction Manager for Highways Improvement Schemes, you will play a pivotal role in overseeing and managing the successful delivery of projects. The ideal candidate will have a solid background in construction management, with a specific emphasis on highways improvement schemes. Familiarity with NEC 4 Contracts, strong programme writing and management skills, and a proven ability to control costs are essential for success in this role.
Responsibilities:
- Lead the planning and execution of highway improvement schemes, ensuring compliance with project specifications, timelines, and budget constraints.
- Utilise NEC 4 Contracts for effective project management and ensure contract deliverables are met.
- Develop and manage detailed project programmes, identifying critical paths and milestones to ensure timely project completion.
- Implement and enforce quality control measures to guarantee the highest standards of workmanship and compliance with industry regulations.
- Collaborate with project stakeholders, including engineers, contractors, and local authorities, to facilitate smooth communication and resolve any project-related issues.
- Oversee cost control measures, monitor project budgets, and implement strategies to optimise project efficiency and financial performance.
- Maintain accurate project documentation, including progress reports, risk assessments, and change orders.
- Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations and promote a culture of safety on-site.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field. (Not essential)
- Proven experience as a Construction Manager with a focus on highways improvement schemes.
- In-depth knowledge of NEC 4 Contracts and experience in their practical application.
- Strong programme writing and management skills, with proficiency in project management software.
- Demonstrated ability to control costs and manage project budgets effectively.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate with diverse teams.
- Strong leadership and decision-making abilities in a fast-paced construction environment.
- Relevant certifications in construction management or project management are a plus.
