The Property and Development Service plays a lead role in generating income and capital receipts for the Council through acquisitions, disposals and the proactive management of its extensive commercial property portfolio. These investments and management strategy play a key role in securing income to fund wider Council services for the benefit of local communities.
Teams within the service work in partnership with the private sector and key stakeholders to secure high quality investment in the city and deliver major mixed-use regeneration schemes, such as Friargate and City Centre South, which will create thousands of new homes and jobs for the city.

What is the job role?The team provide an effective day to day property management service for the commercial portfolio with the objective of prudent spend on the fabric of the commercial estate which will include enforcing relevant lease and statutory obligations.
- You will provide advice regarding building maintenance and specific projects including license to alter, design and dilapidations.
- You will be required to carry out regular inspections and arrange works on both a reactive and pro-active basis paying particular importance to Health & Safety.
- You will also get involved with works projects as part of the planned preventative maintenance programme to maintain and prolong the life of the buildings alongside the Building Surveying Team.
This role is a career progression post from a Grade 6 (£31,364 - £37,336) to a Grade 7 (£36,648 - £43,421) position. You will need to be able to demonstrate you have extensive experience in Property Management and hold NEBOSH General Certificate to progress to the G7 role. Please note that if you are able to demonstrate alignments with the gateway criteria at interview stage, you will be considered for the Grade 7 Role.
Who are we looking for?If you are a natural self-starter, with attention to detail and a can-do attitude, this is an opportunity you will not want to miss!
Ideally you will have experience and a working knowledge of buildings. You will be aware of the day-to-day management of a property portfolio with the ability to successfully complete works within the remits of the departments and Council’s own policies and procedures.
In addition, you ideally will have a working knowledge of project management tools and an understanding of general Health & Safety, Fire and CDM regulations.
We are looking for someone with excellent communication skills, ability to work on your own initiative whilst being a team player with the ability to meet deadlines.
