Adopting a Hybrid work style, in line with Council Policy, you will work from home and our office base. You will be part of the Building Standards team, within the Built Environment service cluster, dealing with all aspects of the Building Standards function including carrying out building warrant assessments, site inspections, dealing with dangerous buildings and working closely with Private Sector Solutions colleagues. Your good communication skills and proactive customer service approach will ensure you provide a professional and solutions driven service to architects, developers and other customers.
Your responsibilities will include supervision of the day-to-day operational building standards and enforcement duties in support of the overall management of the team. You will have an in-depth knowledge of building regulations and all other legislation allied to the Building Standards function together with varied experience and an understanding of the construction industry. Along with good IT and communication skills, you must have the ability to achieve solutions to design related problems. In addition, you must possess skills in planning, vetting and assessment of major projects.
A Degree or equivalent in a construction industry discipline, or a closely related subject is essential together with membership of the RICS or CABE.
Adopting a Hybrid work style, in line with Council Policy, you will work from home and our office base, Civic Centre, Motherwell.
You will be required to travel throughout the area of North Lanarkshire Council.
Working Pattern
- Monday - Thursday: 8:45am - 4:45pm (including a 55 minute unpaid break)
- Friday: 8:45am - 4:15pm (including a 50 minute unpaid break)

*For all casual/sessional roles, you will receive 12.1% of your hourly rate for every hour worked in total recompense for annual leave, including public holidays. These rates will be indicated separately on your payslip. You will only be paid for the hours that you work.
