The Role
As the Head of Property, you will be the lead expert on asset management and investment issues within the Council.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Building relationships with external stakeholders
- Liaising with senior decision-makers, including councillors and service directors
- Creating the Council's asset management strategy
- Leading an action plan for strategy implementation
- Managing portfolio performance and various teams involved in asset management
- Driving system improvements and ensuring effective IT solutions across the property team
- Identifying income generation opportunities and maximising capital returns from the portfolio

About You
To excel in this role, you should have:
- A relevant qualification in a property discipline
- Chartered surveyor status (MRICS or FRICS)
- Experience at a senior management level
- Strong knowledge of council services related to asset management, including facilities management, building surveying, and property investment and divestment
- Political awareness
- Familiarity with commercial transactions and business drivers affecting local authorities
- Strong leadership skills, including motivation and mentoring
- A full driving licence
