You will oversee the loading and discharge of breakbulk, out of gauge and containerised cargoes, project cargo, loss adjusting, insurance and damage surveys, dangerous goods inspections and produce inspections, operating on behalf of a broad spectrum of clients including cargo owners, freight forwarders, major shipping lines, container terminals and ports, ship owners and P&I clubs.
You'll be an integral part of a dynamic group, working adaptably together to meet the demands of an industry that occasionally subjects us to unconventional hours and all weathers; however, those who are well-suited will find immense diversity and satisfaction in the role.
Expect to dive into various survey duties that align with our client's evolving interests, adding new disciplines to your expertise along the way. With experience and training, you may even find yourself stepping into a pivotal role within the commercial surveying sector, handling draft surveys, bunker surveys, and on/off hire assignments.
**Please note: this role is based primarily in Southampton, Felixstowe, or Stanford-le-Hope, you'll have the flexibility to work between two of these locations.**

Seagoing experience, appointed person qualifications, or a relevant degree in marine surveying are all advantageous. Required skill set
• Plan and attend cargo operations, inspections and meetings, managing schedules proactively
• Plan cargo lifting and securing operations and preparation of lashing plans
• Ability to undertake loadmaster and slinger/signaller role in cargo lifting operations or develop with experience and training
• Management of a caseload from instruction to completion
• Maintain high standards of communication with team members and principals in a timely and concise manner
• Respond and work flexibly, balancing work and life priorities to ensure reporting deadlines are met
• Operate within agreed authorities, inspection and H&S standards, acting in the best interests of principals at all times
• Maintain positive relationships with clients to ensure long term business growth
• Working remotely as an individual and as part of a team, undertaking travel as required primarily across the South of the UK and Europe on occasion
• Take responsibility for personal development
• IT literate with strong report writing ability
• Fluent English language written and verbal ability
• Hold a current UK driving licence
• Candidates must live within (or be willing to relocate to) a commutable distance of the ports of Southampton, Felixstowe or London Gateway.
• All EU Citizens currently based in the UK will require pre-settlement status
