About The Role:

The Quantity Surveyor will work as part of the Commercial Management team to ensure the prompt financial completion of projects throughout schemes in the South East.

Duties:
• Providing commercial support for Groundworks and Civil Engineering projects
• Understand the contractual requirements of project documents including the roles and responsibilities of all involved
• Liaise with the client, client representatives and other 3rd parties on commercial issues
• Manage the client to receive information required, e.g. Payment Certificate, variation instructions, etc
• Cost management for project/section of works, identify and pricing variations
• Understand forecast cost to completion
• Preparation of interim valuations and final accounts
• Risk and opportunity management for project/section of works

• Prepare monthly forecasts

Candidate Requirements:
• A qualified/experienced Senior QS with at least 5 years’ experience in the industry
• A qualified/experienced Intermediate level QS with at least 3-5 years of industry experience
• With an already confirmed order book ahead of us, progression would be on the horizon for the right candidate. Ideally, we are seeking someone with a Groundworks background
Skills & Attributes:

• HND in Quantity Surveying or other equivalent construction related subject
• Demonstrable commercial experience, preferably within Civil Engineering/Groundworks
• Good communication and negotiation skills

Your new role: Assistant Quantity Surveyor

We are expanding our commercial management team to support National Highways' annual £1bn investment programme to maintain the Strategic Road Network. As part of this, we have exciting opportunities for Assistant Quantity Surveyors to join our team.

• Manage own portfolio of works under supervision from QS/ SQS.

To be successful you'll need

• To have either achieved or be working towards a degree/HND in Quantity Surveying or other relevant technical qualification and/or completion of a formally recognised graduate programme, apprenticeship or similar. Alternatively, you will be working towards a Chartered qualification within a relevant professional organisation, such as RICS, ICES, or equivalent.
• Basic experience of contract administration, desirably using NEC forms of contract.
• Intermediate level MS Excel (basic formula, pivot tables, formatting).

This is a full-time permanent role, working for a well established Lettings department.

The Job

Ensuring that all property management issues are dealt with effectively and efficiently and making sure that we are compliant and act within our own standard operating procedures
Maintain our key register and help manage a database of contractors
Build great relationships with our network of lettings offices and liaise and co-ordinate with them end of tenancy and pre tenancy work
Resolving or escalating any issues promptly
Training and mentoring others
The Person

Property Letting experience is essential for this role
An ability to build great relationships with Landlords and Tenants alike
Fantastic communication skills with a highly organised ability to prioritise what is most important
Able to work under pressure and at pace
A good knowledge of IT skills is essential as is a bright, enthusiastic “can do” attitude
Hours

This will be based on 35 hours per week from Monday to Friday

My client are a medium sized Mechanical Contractor who have 2 offices in Watford and Kent.

They have been operating for over 30 years and now turnover in excess of £6mil a year.

Healthcare Projects are their bread and butter but also get involved in Local Authorities, Education, Restaurant & Retail, Public Buildings projects.

They are seeking a Quantity Surveyor – with 2+ years experience to join the team and work out of either office.

THE ROLE – M&E QUANTITY SURVEYOR

7am – 3.30pm / 8am – 4.30pm for example.

You will be working as the sole M&E Quantity Surveyor in the business, with support from the Directors who also carry out Quantity Surveying duties.

Working across their portfolio of projects, with values ranging from £1mil - £4mil.

They have just won a £4mil Healthcare Project for the successful candidate to get stuck into straight away.

You will be responsible for:

- Producing & Getting Tenders out
- Collating these and then issuing out as a tender pack for submission.

The ROLE
