KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES / RESPONSIBILITIES
- Set appropriate context when assigning work to ensure that individuals’ roles support the achievement of the business unit’s priorities and CIBC’s overall goals
- Build team and individual capabilities by providing development opportunities such as job shadowing, special projects, and training
- Manage performance by providing fair and accurate formal and informal feedback, identifying and removing obstacles to performance and by explaining how performance expectations align with business priorities
- Create a positive work environment and being an effective role model by championing CIBC’s mission, vision and values
- Ensure compliance with policies, standards, guidelines and controls by applying the policies and controls fairly and consistently so employees understand what to expect
- Hire the right people in the right jobs to align individual capabilities with job requirements and business unit goals.
- Serve as AMs primary resource for review
- Collaborate with AM/RMs to maintain and grow client relationships. Seek to become trusted advisor through regular client contact and relationship building
- Interact with other team members (Regional Group Portfolio Manager, Market Lead and Credit) to achieve ultimate approval for renewals and modifications to existing business
- Monitor a portfolio of loans
- Review renewals and modifications for credit approval
- Conduct annual site visits and work to gain market expertise in locations where the bank has exposure
- Complete necessary analysis and documentation to achieve credit actions related to AM’s existing portfolio (e.g., structure, waivers, and modifications)
- Assist SPM with quarterly reviews, including the 5 review
- Lead CRE in organization of data for submission during internal and external exams and audits
- Be informed of relationship activity as deals progress through the underwriting and closing process
- Identify product/service opportunities for other business units and participate in development of creative solutions to client needs, coordinates presentations, and bring in partners when appropriate
- Participate in industry events to maintain current market knowledge and client relationships
- Manage team of AMs
- Serve as Recommending Officer and RLR signer on loan
- Align credit actions with credit authorities, concentration limits, risk ratings, and assigned approval limits
- Originate and structure credit opportunities in line with credit standards and guidelines and risk appetite including, as applicable, underwriting guidelines
- Ensure all documentation aligns with credit approval
- Ensure all data and documentation captured through the origination process is accurate, complete, accomplished in a timely manner
This is a hybrid position that requires you be in office 3 days a week.
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS
- Min. 10-15 years in banking
- Minimum 5-7 years of experience in CRE portfolio management
- Ability to produce loan presentations with minimal oversight
- College Degree / Business, Finance, Accounting, Real Estate, Economics preferred
- Ability to foster and maintain commercial relationships with high level of competency
- Ability to identify risk within credit requests
- Proficient in Microsoft Office products with advanced knowledge financial analysis and modeling
