• Serves as a registered apprentice in a developmental capacity as a wildland firefighter trainee serving on one or more of the following module types: engine, hand crew (suppression, fuels or wildland fire module), or helitack.
• Performs all aspects of wildland and prescribed fire operations such as, line construction, ignition device (e.g. fuses, drip torches, flares, and terra torch) use, patrolling fie line and the use of water and hand tools to perform mop-up.
• Will fight wildland fires in extreme heat conditions and austere environments for an extended period of time, which will include sleeping in an outdoor environment (fire camp or near fireline).
• Starts pump engine, primes pump, adjusts engine speed and pump valves, lays hose, and uses appropriate nozzles and nozzle adjustment in effective use of water and additives.
• Services and makes minor repairs to engine; inspects, checks and services accessories such as pump, water lines, tank, reels, or pump power plant; and keeps in fire readiness.
• Inspects, cleans, and stows hose. Makes emergency repairs and adjustments of pump while in use. Performs line construction and mop-up activities.
• Will complete all necessary training requirements and maintain physical fitness requirements to advance within, and graduate from the apprenticeship program.
• The apprenticeship training assignments include: fire suppression and leadership courses, as well as attending the basic or advanced Wildland Firefighter Apprenticeship Program.

The major duties of the Interdisciplinary General Engineer/Landscape Architect position include, but are not limited to, the following:

• Assists the Project Manager (PM) in initiating, establishing, guiding, and controlling one or more design/construction projects from inception through completion.
• Guides project formulation, and development through to completion of projects that are within quality, budget, and schedule commitments.
• Responsible for writing scopes of work; developing Government estimates; assisting in the negotiation of task orders and construction contracts; coordinating contracted efforts; providing quality assurance of contracted products; and closing out compliance, pre-design, design, and construction management efforts provided by numerous external contractors performing professional services on major, simple to highly complex, multi-phased projects.
• Works expeditiously with team members to resolve all outstanding issues due to deficient work. Incumbent serves as the primary or alternate Contracting Officer's Representative (COR) on assigned projects.

Design Coordinator

The Role:

As part of the Engineering function based in our Southern Region, the Design Coordinator will be responsible for coordinating design aspects throughout the project lifecycle. The Design Coordinator will support the Design Manager in overseeing the delivery of the design and technical solutions for our various projects across a number of clients. Their contributions will help to make sure this aspect of the project is completed on program and on cost, ensuring safety and quality through design, and achievement of outcomes.

The role includes aspects of design management and looking at technical solutions as well as supervising the inputs of various consultants and disciplines including environmental, archaeological and planning. You will also work closely with our construction teams to ensure designs meet requirements.

The Design Coordinator will have the opportunity to work on Water and Wastewater schemes with various clients across our Southern Region.

Please be aware that this role covers various projects in London within M25 as well as the Thames Valley Region (Reading, Oxford, and Aylesbury).

Key Responsibilities:

• Coordinate design in line with the budget and programme, ensuring compliance with the project requirements, standards and specifications.
• Adhering to CDM regulations including supporting the Design Manager to discharge Principal Designer duties.
• Promotion of safety, buildability, environmental best practice, and sustainability, through design.
• Help to produce design plans and briefs.
• Coordinate external design consultants.
• Collaboration with other internal disciplines, other technical, operational, maintenance, and strategic stakeholders, and design coordinators.
• Coordinate between the construction and design team to ensure site investigations and surveys meet project requirements, that design outputs are buildable and drive efficiency in construction, and that technical queries are addressed.
• Provide input to construction planning activities such as consents and stakeholder management.
• Coordinate and contribute to internal and external assurance, governance and review processes, including review and production of relevant deliverables.
• Have awareness of commercial arrangements within area of responsibility.
• Identify, record and manage design change, risk and opportunity.
• Ensure quality in design to be ‘right first time’.
• Coordinate and support preparation of handover documentation.

Person Specification:

The successful candidate is likely to meet the following criteria:

Essential

• Considerable experience in water and wastewater infrastructure
• Temporary Works: Understanding of what encompasses Temporary Works and the supporting engineering, understanding of the types of temporary works designs available and what responsibilities the associated roles (designer/coordinator/contractor) have, and engagement of internal and external temporary works designers
• Degree/HNC qualified, or equivalent, in Civil Engineering (or working towards through apprenticeship or similar)
• Awareness of Building Information Modeling (BIM) and common data environments
• Proficient in using Microsoft including Excel, Word and PowerPoint
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to liaise effectively with both clients and staff
• Time management, project design management
• Self-driven and results-oriented with a positive outlook

• The position is demanding because the safety and security of the facility, staff and offender (including the offender care and control) are directly dependent on the officer's skills in the following areas: 1) booking and release procedures; 2) inmate behavior management; 3) leadership; 4) crisis prevention and intervention; 5) inmate health care and medication; 6) demonstration or fairness in all dealings with offenders through policy and procedures; 7) observation and supervision of inmates; 8) service referrals for programs and services; 9) documentation, logs and reports on inmate incident and management; and, 10) Transportation of inmates to court, medical, and other facilities.
• Enforces standard rules and regulations provided in Title 25 of the Code of Federal Regulations (CFR), 69 Bureau of Indian Affairs Manual (BIAM), Department of the Interior (DOI), Departmental Manual (OM) 446, governing the operations of the detention facilities and programs, and the confinement, safety, health, and protection of criminal offenders.
• Provides preliminary Interviews for physical and mental health with classification assessments.

• Coordinates, and supervises offender services, activities, and programs, (i.e., access to medical care, courts, mail, recreating, library, work programs, religious, food, laundry, and counseling services).

• Instructs offenders in housekeeping, sanitation and in the proper use and care of tools and equipment used in sanitation and in the proper use and care of tools and equipment used in performing unskilled or semi-skilled work Inside or outside of the facility.
• Manages inmate behavior of offenders in need of supervision. This includes utilizing effective verbal interpersonal communication skills and proper documentation. Will make proper referrals to appropriate resources.
• Transports to court, medical and other facilities. Provides close supervision of the offender throughout the transport.
• Implements all safety aspects of facility emergency management plans to include fire and emergency evacuations.
• Provides for vehicle safety and security by providing defined offender supervision, searches, transportation, classification, and counts, along with maintaining fire safety, key control, perimeter security, and compliance with offender rules.
• Ensures that offenders are released from the facility according to established regulations and operational descriptions.
• Completes facility observation on maintenance that is needed by reporting and documenting to the supervisor that a repair is needed.
