• Serves as the senior engineer in the Engineering Division and as the technical advisor to Directorate of Public Works (DPW).
• Responsible for performing technical, administrative, managerial, and professional work related to contract administration, quality assurance, facility repairs, energy conservation management and oversight, and facility operations and maintenance.
• Provides engineering support for a wide range of garrison projects, including design and review, construction field representation, project development and management, and contracting support.
• Administers, manages, directs, and supports the Contracting Officers Representative (COR) for the multimillion-dollar Base Operations (BASOPS) Maintenance Contract of the Division.
• Represents the requirements and priorities of the operations and maintenance functional area in overall Public Works planning and programming.

What We Need from You…

We need a Data Solution Architect who understands the challenges of modern software development and exploiting data in a complex enterprise. You will build a compelling and powerful image of where we're heading from a data architecture and design perspective. You will understand technology implications for people and processes and will bring this to your holistic view of design. Ideally, you will have previous career experience in software engineering or solution architecture and will be well-placed to define and sell your vision to engineers, architects, and product owners alike.

What you'll bring…

• Excellent knowledge of the data technology of complex enterprise systems, modern cloud-hosted data solutions, integration patterns, DevOps, and data and event stream technologies and broad experience with in-house and vendor-written applications.

• Ability to support negotiations to gain agreement from senior stakeholders, seeing the big picture and translating business priorities into technical solutions

• Experience working on multiple products simultaneously and understanding the relationships between them.

• Understanding of risk management concepts and how to factor this into work prioritization models.

• Strong understanding of and experience with enterprise architecture principles and data strategy.

• Experience with risk, infrastructure, resilience, and security architecture practices and concerns.

• Able to communicate effectively with technical and non-technical audiences, from end-users to senior stakeholders.

Principal Highways Design Engineer (Civil Engineering)

Birmingham - Hybrid

GiPro is delighted to be working exclusively with one of the most recognised engineering consultancy in the UK who are experts within the Transport Planning and Highways Design space. Due to their rapid growth, they are now on the lookout for an experienced Principal Highways Design Engineer. This role is based at their new state-of-the-art Birmingham office and you'd have the opportunity to play a key part in the development of the office and building your dream team - the opportunities are endless.

Please note that this is a role within Civil Engineering.

The role:

• Ensure designs are delivered within programme and within the budget provided;
• Manage resource allocations to ensure team members are fully utilised on the highest priority tasks;
• Prepare and manage project budgets, ensuring cost control and financial accountability, and monitor and track project expenditures against said budget;
• Act as the primary point of contact for clients, stakeholders, and other project partners;
• Manage stakeholder expectations and ensure effective communication throughout the project lifecycle;
• Ensure that all designs are prepared in accordance with MCHW, DMRB and/or local design guidance, and that the requirements of all relevant Authorities and Statutory bodies are incorporated into designs, as appropriate;
• Undertake and check / authorise design information and reports providing effective feedback;
• Work with Milestone's Senior Management Team to assist with projects from other offices and disciplines;
• Encourage innovation and continuous improvement within the team and displaying sound independent judgement, and;
• Comply with relevant Health & Safety legislation, particularly the CDM Regulations and adopting a pro-active risk management / mitigation approach.

About you:

• Pro-active management skills with confidence to manage teams in accordance with a growing and varied workload
• Highways and drainage experience, using AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and Microdrainage.
• Ideally have a good understanding of Flood Risk Assessments and various section agreements including S278, S38, S104 and S106.
• Great resource management skills ensuring projects are resourced with the most effective staff
• Strong technical skills and experience in a range of highway design environments
• Proven project management of highway projects and delivery to programme and budget
• Display sound independent judgment
• Experience with developing, mentoring and supervision of Highway Design staff
• Robust working knowledge of Highways Technical documents within the DMRB
