Senior Project Manager - Architecture and Engineering

As Senior Project Manager for Architecture/Engineering at NewYork-Presbyterian, you’ll lead mechanical and electrical infrastructure projects such as replacing major equipment in our existing facilities, that impact the lives of thousands of patients each year. Prioritize, plan, coordinate, implement and administer capital construction projects on an enterprise wide basis to ensure effective program development and project execution. Lead, develop and manage a team of PMs, and by extension, design teams composed of architects and specialty engineering services. Provide guidance in the creation of project plans, project scope, budgets, client approach and design team management. This role is a Director level role with direct reports.

This is a full time position that will have oversight on projects connected to the NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital / Columbia University Irving Medical Center sphere.

Required Criteria

GENERAL FUNCTION:

The Principal Solution Architect is a seasoned individual who can work independently and with very little management guidance. This individual is recognized as an expert in this field and has the knowledge and experience to be a recognized leader in this craft. Will evaluate, design and implement technology solutions to build and progress technology strategies with a line of business. In the majority of situations, the incumbent will be the application owner responsible for third party, purchased software aligned with a LOB. Will have responsibility to work with vendor to understand upcoming changes, how the software fits into the technology roadmap and design plans to ensure business continuity and effectiveness. Understands the bank's systems, how they are configured, how we need to reconfigure to meet the changes. If aligned to an agile squad may work closely with the product owner to ensure user stories are defined appropriately to develop effective technology solutions.  Will have the flexibility to work on very complex initiatives and provide guidance and advice to less seasoned engineers.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Help to define the long-term vision for one or more products and domains and help to lead the technical execution towards that vision.
• Work with the line of business and IT squads to design solutions to incorporate software changes and effectively work with all partners to ensure effective implementation
• Consult with Product Owners to understand the business technology roadmap and make recommendations on continued utilization or elimination of inhouse and current third party software solutions.
• Be the main liaison with software vendor(s) for systems utilized by a particular line of business
• Stay abreast of upcoming changes and enhancements in vendor’s software and how those changes will impact the business.

MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:

• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant technology field or equivalent combination of education and work experience
• 5+ years of engineering or other IT work experience relevant to the position
• Experience working with third party commercial off the shelf and internally built applications
• Deep understanding of reactive architecture principles and familiarity with micro-service oriented architecture
• Understanding of decentralized and asynchronous data flows and related tools, modern warehousing best practices, and the data security as a fundamental aspect of data movement
• Experience with container hosted application footprints in hybrid cloud/on-premise environments
• Outstanding problem-solving and communication skills

With approximately $1 Billion in U.S. supply chain costs, this individual will partner with Operations and Commercial teams and use data-driven analysis, strategic thinking, initiative ideation & prioritization, and project management skills to identify current supply chain capacity and capability gaps and deploy solutions to improve end-to-end flow of product through the supply chain.  This individual must have experience driving end-to-end solutions and managing analytical teams in one or more critical supply chain functions (e.g., transportation, distribution, replenishment, network design, Capital planning, deployment, etc.).  Ideal candidate will also have experience across different industries, allowing him/her to draw upon and implement best practices. Must be a detail-oriented self-starter with the ability to lead multiple strategic projects as well as a team of highly talented Data Scientists, Business Analysts, and Project Managers.

Accountabilities

• Provides thought leadership, informs supply chain strategy, and leads network design and capital deployment functions
• Identifies and removes friction points throughout the Medical supply chain, while driving new capabilities that allow for over-achievement of customer expectations and business objectives
• Design end-to-end supply chain product flow concepts that, where applicable, leverage the broader Cardinal Health volume, systems, scale, and partnerships, while providing the Medical Segment with consistently higher levels of service
• Multi-echelon capacity and throughput planning that optimizes service level and cost, given building capacities, product availability, labor/staffing schedule, transportation, customer delivery schedules, etc.
• Works to identify and unlock capacity and throughput constraints across the supply chain through short-term projects/initiatives and medium-term investments
• Leads 3-5 year capacity, capability, and capital strategy planning and deployment – ensuring Medical distribution can meet future demand, with optimized efficiencies across the value chain
• Present recommendations to address capability gaps and various supply chain constraints that will impact supply chain execution – developing and coordinating mitigation / resolution steps
• Leverages LEAN/Six Sigma concepts to reduce process waste and drives end-to-end cost reductions and process efficiencies

Qualifications

• 12-15 years of proven supply chain experience across multiple industries and functions preferred
• 5-7 years of experience leading both analytical and operations teams preferred
• Experience leading development of large scale, 3-5 year strategy – communicating across key stakeholders and gaining buy-in
• LEAN/Six Sigma Black Belt certification preferred
• Working knowledge of Llamasoft suite of modeling tools preferred
• Ability to navigate a matrixed work environment, partnering with stakeholders across various functions to deliver operational and financial commitments

Intern - Public Art & Building History Researcher/Archivist

                     Part-Time 20-30 hrs./wk.       Salary $ 15.00/hr.

GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF THE POSITION:

The Baltimore Convention Center wishes to research and then produce thorough documentation surrounding its public art collection. This will include reviewing archival documentation, researching artists and their works, interviewing pertinent stakeholders, and producing documents that will be used to create content for the organization’s website and self-guided tours.

Additionally, as the Convention Center will be celebrating its 50th anniversary in 2029, the Intern will start to identify historic photos and documents from within the city and agency archives and propose a list of assets that should be digitized in preparation for a retrospective.

Interns at the Baltimore Convention Center are hired with a specific set of tasks or project in mind.  The goal is to create meaningful job experiences for the student while providing the agency tangible outcomes that leave lasting impact.  The position will work closely with all departments, as well as relevant entities to further the assigned work such as the Baltimore City Archives and the Baltimore Office of Promotion and the Arts

The Intern is a part-time hourly position that will report to leadership within the Sales, Services, and Marketing Department.

Incumbents receive moderate supervision from a technical superior. Employees in this class work a conventional workweek averaging 20-30 hours a week. The work of this position takes place in a predominantly seated work location but will require occasional walking, bending, and lifting items no more than 50lbs. Occasional offsite visits to pertinent locations will be required, however a personal vehicle is not required.

Work alongside the agency’s marketing department to design web content surrounding the Center’s public art.

Identify relevant photos and documents from within the city and agency archives to the creation and operation of the BCC since its opening in 1979.

Propose a list of archival items that should be digitized in preparation for a retrospective.

The Project/Design Engineer designs, develops or redesigns new or existing products.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Designs and details components and assemblies utilizing Solid Works and Mechanical AutoCAD software.

Looks for opportunities to redesign legacy products.

Creates designs and documentation to facilitate manufacture of products including drawings, bills of material, material specifications and design files.

Develops and maintains engineering designs, calculations, processes and procedures.

Responsible for taking the lead on design projects from concept to production.

About the Opportunity:

Established in 2021, Brown Arts Institute (BAI) is a university-wide research enterprise and catalyst for the arts at Brown that creates new work and supports, amplifies, and adds new dimensions to the creative practices of Brown’s arts departments, faculty, students, and community. Through year-round programming, research-focused courses, initiatives, collaborations, and partnerships, along with rigorous artistic and academic programs, BAI commissions and presents new work on campus, across Providence, Rhode Island, and beyond, from students, faculty, and on-campus arts groups, as well as in collaboration with forward-focused visiting artists and other performing arts organizations.

The Director of Design and Production (DDP) reports to the Artistic Director and is responsible for ensuring that the overall design and execution of productions taking place in any existing or future BAI venues meets exemplary professional standards. The DDP must maintain the highest level knowledge of all BAI venue specifics, including all technical and safety requirements, and is responsible for working closely with all programmed artists, as well as internal and external designers, to ensure that projects - including BAI commissions and transfers from other venues -  are appropriately designed for BAI venues. The DDP creates technical budgets, calendars, and staffing plans in collaboration with the Artistic Director and Producing Director, and is also responsible for identifying, recruiting, and managing all technical staff assigned to the BAI and BAI venues.  An active participant in the engineering, planning and execution of designs for all productions, the DDP, when necessary, submits designs to shops or rental houses to solicit bids and manages fabrication or rentals to meet set, costume, lighting, sound, and projection needs. The DDP ensures that standards of safety are observed by serving as the Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) representative for the BAI. KBR is seeking a R&D Architect Support Engineer/Systems Engineer. This position will serve as a technical member of a dynamic systems engineering team supporting the NRO Ground Directorate (GED)/Advanced Ground Group (AGG) organization.  The candidate will support the Applied Research & Development (R&D) acquisition, integration and test initiatives with a specific focus area.   Specifically, the candidate will support pathfinding and transition of applications and mission capabilities to the operations environment for Multi-Intelligence hard intelligence problems. 

Responsibilities include:

• Provide Day-to-Day collaboration with the Government Customer, FFRDC teams, SETA and GED development contractors as well as External Agency mission partners
• Provide oversight, monitor development and integration activities and ensure alignment of priorities and resources consistent with US Government requirements and objectives
• Analyze a wide variety of mission thread projects for impact on the existing and planned system architecture
• Assist in ensuring decisions about AGG R&E Systems are consistent with an open-architecture construct
• Advise Senior and mid-level US Government managers on acquisition decisions regarding a portfolio of AGG projects
• Support technical consultation, meeting coordination, and prepare and present architecture and acquisition recommendation briefings
• Establish and maintain the System View-1 (SV-1) Systems Interface Description document baseline linking together the operational and systems architecture
• This position requires an understanding of the intelligence community and customer domain, along with a strong focus on core systems engineering processes in support of end-to-end mission and services closure

Required Qualifications:

• B.S. in engineering, physics or related technical degree or relevant experience
• Experience in space/ground aerospace systems engineering
• Knowledge of system architectures, architecture evolution and interface definition
• Demonstrated knowledge of the NRO with special emphasis on Ground Systems
• At least 35 years’ experience with space/ground testing and systems engineering, systems integration, Verification, Validation and Transition (IVV&T) activities
• Experience supporting agile software development and verification strategies and integration of new systems and initiatives in support of expanded mission capabilities
• Experience with test strategies and plans, executing tests, analyzing data and summarizing results

Desired Qualifications:

• Experience with architecting in an agile software development paradigm
• Demonstrated understanding of Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE)
• Ability to perform architecture analysis, trades, and system integration closure activities
• Experience within an acquisition office in the NRO, NGA or related Intelligence Community
• Prior experience with NRO ground mission processing or mission control systems, and/or mission operations is highly desired
• Experience with commercial IVV&T techniques in service-oriented architecture (SOA) environments is also highly desirable
• Experience interacting with User Community across a wide variety of intelligence and phenomenology disciplines
