- Supervise and control the operation of the section by performing short- and long-range planning, making work assignments, recommend formal training requirements, awards, and necessary disciplinary and/or removal actions.
- Plan, organize, direct, and supervise in-house design and the review and approval of designs prepared by Architect-Engineer (A-E) firms.
- Make field trips to sites and/or existing facilities to examine or check conditions and advise on projects.
- Investigate alleged design deficiencies and construction failures; report findings and recommend remedial action.
- Provide oversight and direction for all Center of Standardization (COS) activities for the Norfolk District.
