Position Summary

The Engineer II position is the intermediate level of the Engineering classification hierarchy. Employees in the Engineer II position solve complex problems in engineering areas of specialization with general supervision. An Engineer II is expected to develop advanced skills, and the ability to work with greater independence. The Director, Supply Chain Design and Execution – Medical Distribution will report to the VP, Supply Chain Flow and Strategy – Medical Distribution. Intern - Public Art & Building History Researcher/Archivist

                     Part-Time 20-30 hrs./wk.       Salary $ 15.00/hr.

GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF THE POSITION:

The Baltimore Convention Center wishes to research and then produce thorough documentation surrounding its public art collection. This will include reviewing archival documentation, researching artists and their works, interviewing pertinent stakeholders, and producing documents that will be used to create content for the organization’s website and self-guided tours.

Additionally, as the Convention Center will be celebrating its 50th anniversary in 2029, the Intern will start to identify historic photos and documents from within the city and agency archives and propose a list of assets that should be digitized in preparation for a retrospective.

Interns at the Baltimore Convention Center are hired with a specific set of tasks or project in mind.  The goal is to create meaningful job experiences for the student while providing the agency tangible outcomes that leave lasting impact.  The position will work closely with all departments, as well as relevant entities to further the assigned work such as the Baltimore City Archives and the Baltimore Office of Promotion and the Arts

The Intern is a part-time hourly position that will report to leadership within the Sales, Services, and Marketing Department.

Incumbents receive moderate supervision from a technical superior. Employees in this class work a conventional workweek averaging 20-30 hours a week. The work of this position takes place in a predominantly seated work location but will require occasional walking, bending, and lifting items no more than 50lbs. Occasional offsite visits to pertinent locations will be required, however a personal vehicle is not required.

SUMMARY

The Project/Design Engineer designs, develops or redesigns new or existing products.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Essential duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Designs and details components and assemblies utilizing Solid Works and Mechanical AutoCAD software.

Looks for opportunities to redesign legacy products.

Creates designs and documentation to facilitate manufacture of products including drawings, bills of material, material specifications and design files.

Guides and coordinates efforts of engineers, designers and technicians.

Develops and maintains engineering designs, calculations, processes and procedures.

Responsible for taking the lead on design projects from concept to production.

Produces necessary engineering calculations and component specifications.

Interfaces with designers and other engineers in team environment.

Checks work of others for accuracy, tolerances, as well as the applicability of the design.

Develops project schedule to meet deadlines.

Responsible for aiding in own self-development by being available and receptive to all training made available by the company.

Plans daily activities within the guidelines of company policy, job description and supervisor’s instruction in such a way as to maximize personal output.

Responsible for keeping own immediate work area in a neat and orderly condition to ensure safety of self and co-workers. Will report any unsafe conditions and/or practices to the appropriate supervisor and human resources. Will immediately correct any unsafe conditions as the best of own ability.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE

We are seeking an enthusiastic and passionate professional for a Senior Cloud Architect position. With extensive experience with Azure / AWS cloud services, this role will support short- and medium-term business and technology cloud initiatives, with focus on the Bank's 3-to-5-year cloud technology roadmap, facilitating innovation and adoption of next-generation technologies. 

You will lead architecture, design, and development of end-to-end cloud-based solutions with a heavy focus on application and data and a good understanding of infrastructure. You are a self-starter, driven and can handle multiple projects and priorities.  You are passionate about driving the DevOps mindset and culture in a fast-paced, challenging environment where you get the opportunity to work with a spectrum of latest tools and technologies to drive forward “Infrastructure-as-Code” and cloud native architecture.

Your Responsibilities

• Drive holistic design & patterns for secure cloud application environments, Cloud platform enhancements, application architecture, data services, and cloud service integrations

• Conduct technical audits of existing architectures (Infrastructure, Performance, Developing data security as a function of design, as well as Scalability and more)

• Architect and implement cloud solutions for various application architectures, and programmatic integration of cloud applications, data services, and infrastructure. Develop application data architecture models to further enable effective service-oriented delivery

• Assist LOBs to architect scalable, highly available application solutions that leverage Cloud services. Collaborates with other architects, operational/infrastructure, and delivery teams to ensure new services align with application & infrastructure roadmaps

• Consult and provide technical guidance to LOBs to refactor their application for the cloud using the 12-factor development practices for cloud-native and microservices oriented application deployment.

• Partner with other stakeholders to drive the creation of Cloud migration & transformation strategy and infrastructure roadmaps across application, information, business, and technology landscapes

• Identify and Analyze Cloud Infrastructure architecture gaps to propose new technologies. Establish pilots and POCs for proposed solutions and make recommendations for approvals.

• Document best practices and recommendations and create and maintain templates

• Drive meetings with subject matter experts from all areas of the business including infrastructure, operations, applications, vendors and leads to seek input from and plan/coordinate migrations, resources requirements and timelines.

• Proven ability to maintain both a strategic long-term outlook and enterprise perspective, while also supporting tangible, business driven, and IT delivered solutions.

• Quickly understand organizational dynamics and management priorities, and to be able to work effectively in a fast-paced, results-driven company.

• Demonstrate strong facilitation, negotiation, interpersonal, communication and collaboration skills.

The Engineer III position is the advanced level of the Engineering classification hierarchy. Employees in the Engineer III position solve complex problems in engineering areas of specialization with limited supervision. An Engineer III is expected to develop advanced skills, and the ability to work with greater independence. An Engineer III effectively applies fundamental concepts and procedures to work that is progressively complex and varied.

Responsibilities

• Provides engineering/technical expertise and guidance in the identification, analysis and resolution of problems of increasing scope and complexity in both inside as well as outside the scope of typical responsibility.
• Ensures accomplishment of business goals and objectives through effective planning, organizing, estimating, scheduling and monitoring of work activities; decisions may affect the operations or results of the work group and may have some impact on major projects or department results.
• Prepares thorough and accurate technical reports, correspondence, documentation, calculations and sketches related to defined problems and analysis of increasing scope and complexity.
• Conducts engineering and related studies; completes non-routine engineering projects with minimal oversight with the ability to independently manage project schedules and interfaces; competent to design, operate and maintain systems with moderate impact on existing systems.
• Possesses and applies the fundamental concepts, practices and procedures; proficient in technical and analytical competencies necessary to handle assignments of increasing complexity.
• Develops positive working relationships to effectively coordinate work activities. Demonstrates effective oral and written communication skills. Maintains accurate records and files.
• Supports the company's goals and represents the company positively and professionally
• Design and engineer high-voltage transmission lines for power utility applications.
• Mentors Junior Engineers & Interns

• Assists Department Management with resolution of complex issues as needed

Requirements:
- Proven experience in transmission line design for high-voltage.
- Expertise in designing foundations for transmission lines.
- Proficiency in CAD software for transmission line design.
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Effective communication and teamwork abilities.

Required/Basic Qualifications

Graduation from a four-year college or university with a Bachelor of Science in Engineering from an ABET accredited program.

A Master's degree in engineering will be considered in lieu of the B. S. engineering degree. 

Minimum of 4 years of relevant engineering experience.

Passing Grade on the Engineering Fundamentals Exam
