About the Department

Procurement leads the optimization of purchases across the Museum to sustain an environment of world-class strategic sourcing through an efficient Source to Pay (S2P) process. GENERAL STATEMENT OF RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES:

You will execute the Met’s Procurement strategies and ensure the integrity of business processes in the acquisition of all Goods and Services needed in Design, Construction, Operations, and Maintenance of The Met’s Facilities and Special Exhibition Environments. You will process POs, manage purchase transactions, obtain quotes, benchmark, and lead simple sourcing projects in related to goods and services in Digital, Technology, Security, and Utilities, within The Met's contract terms and conditions by ensuring on time, on budget and quality-based project delivery.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES:

• Understand, and uphold, the Procurement Policies and Procedures regarding requisitioning, supplier selection, spend threshold levels, contracting, PO release etc. to ensure process integrity;

• Have good understanding of the industries / market for the Digital, Technology, Security, and Utilities industries;

• Process requisitions (REQs), manage purchase transactions, solicit quotes, benchmark costs and lead simple projects to meet internal turn-around-time requirements;

• Validate / approve additional costs in invoices such as freight, additional handling, and perform change order for the invoice processing as necessary;

• Ensure PO accuracy and compliance to The Met's Procurement Policy, and contract Terms and Conditions;

• Validate fair values of incumbent sources through benchmark studies. Recommend alternate sources as appropriate considering attributes such as service levels, performance records, industry recognitions, and peer recommendations; negotiate with supplier to capture savings;

• Maintain contacts with key suppliers to ensure continuity of supply and timely availability of goods and services;

• Support Category Manager and Sr. Buyers in their projects with PO issuance, research, supplier communication (outreach, pre-qualification, onboarding), bidder communications, project tracking, proposal analysis / bids leveling, selection recommendation, to achieve optimal TCO (cost, service, & quality);

• Work closely with the requesting departments to clearly understand their requirements to provide early input into the sourcing process. Research supply options and screen candidates;

• Establish personal and team credibility by ensuring quick resolution of service issues;

• Generate ad hoc work reports, provide periodic updates for management on activities and savings;

• Drive procurement best practices to maximize ROI on engaged spend;

• Understand project requirements, execute sourcing actions per the defined sourcing guidelines;

• Process Requisitions and Change Orders to release POs within standard turn-around time;

• Work with Counsel’s Office to create, redline, analyze and negotiate contracts;

• Take remedial actions when suppliers are not performing as contracted. Ensure that ordered items are delivered on time and expedite where necessary;

• Participate in Interlock meetings with end users, and understand their urgencies, align solution plans with Project priorities;

• Generate ad hoc work reports, provide periodic activity updates for management, report savings contributions;

• Collaborate with stakeholders and work with suppliers to come up with creative solutions under (sometimes) extreme time pressures to meet the project timelines;

• Seek opportunities to maximize diversity spend (including sub-tiers) where viable in all sourcing projects;

• Ensure that sourcing practices comply with the defined operating policies and procedures in all aspects of the source to pay process. Provide guidance to Requesters as appropriate;

• Other related duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• A recognized 4-year college degree at an accredited institution (or equivalent);

• 3 years of relevant experience in technology related sourcing;

• Basic understanding of supply bases in the digital and technology stack (hardware / software and professional services, analytics, content creation, and cloud); lab equipment, security / surveillance devices, and communications;

• Basic understanding of the balance between controlling technology run costs and risks while building strategic technology partnerships with suppliers;

• Contract negotiation and supplier management experience with understanding of legal / financial risks and key terms and conditions within goods and services contracts;

• Ability to prioritize and manage intense workloads in a complex, fast-paced environment;

• Self-starter with ability to handle and prioritize multiple projects;

COMPENSATION RANGE:

• Pay Range : $  95,000 - $105,000  / Annually

You will solicit funds and manage a portfolio of corporate donors for the Museum's fundraising program in the exhibition and program sponsorship area. • Identify, solicit and steward a portfolio of corporate sponsorship prospects for The Met’s robust schedule of exhibitions and special projects, with annual revenue of approximately $3 million.

• Identify and solicit new corporate members and increase contributions from current members.

• Collaborate with the Development Events team, Office of Special Events, Membership and Education Departments on all corporate events held at the Museum and attend regular interdepartmental event meetings.

• Ensures that design work is coordinated across disciplines by maintaining clear and frequent communications.
• Advises engineering and project management regarding any problem areas, staffing requirements, delays in production, scope changes, or other events which could effect project completion and/or profitability.

ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT:

The Department of Textile Conservation is responsible for preservation, conservation, technical study, research, and installation of the Museum’s collection of approximately 36,000 textiles in twelve curatorial departments, stored primarily in the Antonio Ratti Textile Study and Storage Center. The expansive collection represents a broad range of textiles, including flat textiles, tapestries, carpets, embroideries, costumes, archaeological and three-dimensional fiber art as well as accessories from all periods and cultures.   The Department sets and follows guidelines for documentation, care, handling, display, and storage of the textiles and plays a vital role in The Met’s Integrated Pest Management (IPM). The Department of Textile Conservation at The Metropolitan Museum of Art upholds the highest professional standards in the conservation of the Museum’s collection of textiles.

GENERAL STATEMENT OF RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES:

You play a vital role in the well-functioning of the department, supporting conservators responsible for textile collections in various curatorial departments.  You will be actively involved in different aspects of conservation work, varying from documentation through conservation treatment to analytical work through the interactions with colleagues working with diverse materials and projects, including a full range of historic and contemporary textiles and costumes. You will have the opportunity to expand your knowledge and skills by learning traditional tapestries and carpet weaving/re-weaving techniques, as well as contribute to the development of treatment and display methodology of modern and contemporary textiles, ranging from flat textiles to three-dimensional fiber art along with mixed-media textile art.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES:

• Perform condition checks, examination and documentation of textiles using photographic and computer-aided technology within the safe and proper handling of textiles.

• In-depth analysis of materials and weaving techniques including  fiber and weave structure analysis using microscope equipment

• Assist liaison conservators with conservation treatment through discussion, research, analysis and implementation of appropriate methodology based on assigned projects

• Assist with time-sensitive projects and duties as assigned by Conservator-in -Charge

• Participate with installation/de-installation of exhibitions/gallery rotations ranging from assisting liaison conservator(s) or requiring teamwork (e.g., large tapestries and carpet installations/de-installations at various physical heights)

• Assist with preparation and installation of textiles for loans and acquisitions and possible courier travel to accompany and safeguard the art both domestically and internationally

• Contribute to the continual development of preventive conservation techniques leading to the long-term preservation, treatment and storage of organic and particularly synthetic and mix-media materials

• Contribute to the department’s research and publishing on conservation treatments, methodologies, materials and techniques, etc.

• Conduct IPM activities individually and as part of team such as vacuuming, anoxic treatment, freezer treatment

• Document condition reports and treatment proposals

• Work with analytical equipment to conduct fiber identification, weave structure analyses

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

• Master’s degree from an internationally recognized graduate conservation program.

• 2  years of work experience in textile conservation with some museum experience; a demonstrated capacity for conservation treatment of textiles including modern and contemporary ones

• Manual skills (sewing & machine techniques); attention to detail and ability to complete assigned tasks in an efficient manner in order to maintain the department’s heavy workload and smooth operation

• Communication skills (verbal, written, interpersonal)

• Experience with laboratory dyeing techniques of yarns and fabrics

• Experience with the most recent diagnostic techniques such as digital microscopy, multiband imaging, digital documentation with image and drawing software

COMPENSATION RANGE:

• Pay Range : $68,000 - $75,000 / Annually

GENERAL STATEMENT OF RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES:

The Assistant Maintainer will assist the Engineering Maintainers in the operation and maintenance of all types of heating, ventilation and air conditioning equipment, including but not limited to chillers, fans, pumps, air compressors, cooling towers, pneumatic and electronic controls, and the cleaning of machinery spaces. Other duties as assigned.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES:

• Assist in servicing air compressors, cooling towers, and control equipment

• Assist in operation of HVAC equipment

• Clean and maintain machinery spaces

• Monitor gages and thermometers, and assist with readings

• Other duties as assigned.

EXPERIENCE & SKILLS:

• Valid New York City Fire Department Refrigeration Operator’s License

• One year experience in an HVAC role, a related field, or successful completion of an established HVAC technical program.

• Must have an ability to operate assorted power tools

KNOWLEDGE & EDUCATION:

• Valid New York City Fire Department Refrigeration Operator’s License

• High school diploma, GED, or equivalency is required

• Technical trade background is preferred

COMPENSATION RANGE:

• Pay Range: 24.10943/hour - $ 29.37372 /hour
