We're on the hunt for a Design Team Manager to become part of our team!
The Team Manager (CMI Design) leads the design team to ensure safe project designs, customer service excellence, and compliance with design standards and governance. They manage the design phase, preparing for construction by meeting all consenting requirements like access, site acquisitions, and surveys.
Youll be responsible for Principal Designers who create cost-effective designs meeting SSEN standards and overseeing engineering productivity and quality, ready for execution.
Your projects will cover network improvements, customer service enhancements, wayleave terminations and infrastructure upgrades, coordinating with investment and construction teams for timely, viable delivery.
Other roles & responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
- Promote a strong safety culture in line with SSEN Influencing Behaviours by ensuring staff and partners challenge, praise, understand, and follow safety rules to meet performance targets.
- Responsible for the design phase of all construction projects within their portfolio of works.
- Ensure that all schemes passed into the construction phase are fully designed and constructible in line with SSENs policies and procedures.
- Carry out the day-to-day line management of the design team focussing on performance and productivity by encouraging their development, setting clear objectives, and developing their sense of ownership for achieving them.
- Address present and future customer needs, ensuring staff and contractors apply them throughout the customer journey including active involvement with all customers.
What do I need?
To be considered for this role, we would love you to have:
- Great coaching, mentoring and performance management skills.
- Good knowledge of the design of Distribution Networks and Power Distribution operations up to 33kV on both overhead line and underground networks.
- Excellent understanding of statutory, regulatory & license requirements, industry wide codes, network, and engineering standards. Knowledge of the design, operation, protection and safety of HV/EHV electricity networks.
- A minimum of an HNC or equivalent in electrical and electronic engineering and a good understanding of CDM roles and responsibilities.
- Good understanding of Supplier Relationship Management to source, deploy and manage external suppliers including developing and managing contracts.
It is an essential requirement for this role that you have a full, current driving licence.
