This position is located within the Department of the Interior, Office of the Secretary, Office of Congressional and Legislative Affairs located in Washington, DC.
At the full performance level (GS-07) the major duties of this position include but are not limited to the following:
- Establish and maintain correspondence files and official Departmental legislative history files using an established filing system as well as new electronic filing systems.
- Maintain supply room, prepare conference rooms, complete large collating and copying projects, and process incoming and outgoing routine office mail.
- Utilize the legislative tracking system to accurately ensure all legislative issues and proposals are collected, processed, and referred to the appropriate subject matter experts.
- Drive the Director or others to meetings on Capitol Hill or at other government agencies.
- Maintain daily trip logs and prepare monthly vehicle management reports.
- Hand-carry special material to other agencies, Congressional and Executive Offices and secure appropriate signatures.
Note: Applicants must be able to work in the duty locations throughout the duration of the Pathways Internship. This position will be filled in Washington, DC.
Note: This position is eligible for conversion to the competitive service upon completion of the Pathways Intern Program requirements. Upon conversion, the full performance level of this position is GS-07. Conversion to the competitive service is not guaranteed; it is at the discretion of management. Additionally, promotions to the next grade level are not guaranteed; they are at the discretion of management.
Duration of Appointment / Job Status: This is an indefinite appointment in the Excepted Service. The incumbent will work a part-time to full-time work schedule based upon school sessions and at the discretion of the supervisor.
Salary Range Information: GS-04: $40,351 - $52,452 per annum GS-05: $45,146 - $58,686 per annum GS-06: $50,326 - $65,425 per annum First time hires to the federal government typically start at the beginning salary in the range for their respective grade level.
