Your new role
Within the role, you'll design and implement IT systems that meet the business's critical needs. You'll support shaping the architecture of new workstreams and project pipelines. You'll be responsible for designing technical solutions (either stand alone or Hyper-Converged Infrastructure). You'll work closely with technical and non-technical stakeholders and act as a technical leader within the organisation.
What you'll need to succeed
To be considered for the role, you'll need to be an experienced solutions architect with a good understanding of windows server, networking and an on-premises background. You will need proven experience in high level architectural design and good knowledge of various operating systems, databases & tech solutions (including cloud). The role

• Act as Technical Authority and have deep subject knowledge of an aspect of marine engineering.
• Preparation and production of substantiation reports for marine solutions throughout the entire design lifecycle phases (Concept, Basic, Functional, Detail, Manufacturing, Installation and Decommissioning), in line with recognised standards and to the required time, cost and quality requirements.
• Provide solutions to manufacturing and installation issues by assisting in the resolution of technical and production queries.

This role is full time, 35 hours per week and provides hybrid working arrangements with 2 days in the office/onsite and 3 days working from home.

Essential experience of the Senior Naval Architect

• Proven naval architecture design experience from a highly regulated industry.
• Experience with appropriate analytical software such as stability software (Paramarine, NAPA, FORAN, Maxsurf) ,FEA, CFD and/or CAD.

This is a permanent position, working Monday to Friday. Qualifications for the Marine Structures Design Engineer:

• Ideally Degree qualified but HND/HNC level qualification in an engineering discipline with extensive experience in relevant field will be considered;
• Ideally you will be a member of a relevant institution (e.g. RINA, IET, IMechE, IMarEst etc.) and hold Chartered or Incorporated status (or be working towards);
• Either already UK Security cleared or able for achieve UK SC clearance.

The Role
As an Automotive Engineer, you'll have a role that's out of the ordinary. You will oversee the design of a new vehicle that will service the British Military.

Day to day, you'll be responsible for developing, designing and implementing new vehicle design solutions in the interest of meeting current and future customer requirements.

• Developing quality requirements to underpin project delivery activities
• Creating concept designs and detailed blueprints
• Component and system development
• Testing, Analysis and Prototyping
• Managing project budgets

This role is full time / permanent. The successful candidate can be based at any compliant Babcock site within the UK, with a hybrid working from home arrangements. There is a requirement to travel to other sites.

Experience required of the Automotive Engineer

• Knowledge of industry specific standards and regulations
• Leadership skills and experience of leading a technical team

The role
As a Naval Architect, you'll have a role that is out of the ordinary. Our Naval Architecture and Maritime Engineering (NAME) group sits within the Maritime and Land business of QinetiQ and consists a team of over 50 people. The team delivers hydrodynamic testing and design consultancy services. Hydrodynamic problem solving forms a significant part of the project work within group - identifying a methodology for solving a client's hydrodynamic issues, mathematically or through model testing.

The role requires an excellent understanding of Naval Architecture principles and the ability to use that knowledge together with sound engineering judgement to solve our customer's important problems. In particular, knowledge of the methods and tools used within hydrodynamic design and assessment is desirable. Practicing knowledge of Computational Fluid Dynamics is strongly desired.

Day-to-day, you will:

• Work collaboratively with customers and colleagues to deliver ensure the customers' requirements are and providing innovative solutions to customers' problems.
• Breakdown complex tasks and then execute the planned schedule of work. This will include being customer facing and supervision of others.
• Ensure the work is conducted in a safe manner, highlighting hazards and potentially unsafe practices to Team Lead.
• Actively participate and encourage increased collaboration across the NAME Group.

This role is full time, 37 hours per week, based at our Bristol Business Park site, with a hybrid working arrangement.

Essential experience of the Naval Architect

• You should have knowledge of Naval Architecture.
• The Naval Architect should have experience in Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD).
