We are currently working with a world class specialist vehicle manufacturer who are developing a full range of EV Vehicles in the recruitment of a Principal Engineer - Closures & Mechanisms.

The main responsibilities of this role will be to support the integration, design and development of components and systems for next generation vehicles. You will create and manipulate geometry for primary communication of concepts / schemes.

As Principal Engineer Closures you will be required to:

• Support the Chief Engineer, BIW & Exterior in all day-to-day activities
• Engineering hard-point generation
• Benchmarking of competitor vehicles & reporting of findings
• Leading the development of the 3D and 2D models for closure & mechanism engineering
• Design surface (CAS) feasibility 'FC' checks. Provide feasibility advice & guidance
• Participate in cross functional integration reviews for components & systems

As Principal Engineer Closures you will have:

• A relevant engineering qualification or experience in a similar role
• Proven experience in an automotive or motorsport applications as part of an OEM, Tier 1 or consultancy being able to use CAD (Catia)
• Experience in complete vehicle development cycle experience for closure & mechanism activities

A new and exciting opportunity has arisen for an Electrical & Instrumentation Design Engineer to join Exciting Processing Plant in the St Austell area.

With no day ever being the same the Electrical & Instrumentation Design Engineer role offers genuine long-term progression and career development within a first-class organisation.

Role & Responsibilities:

• Ensuring that Electrical and Instrumentation aspect of the plant are designed and installed in a safe working manner and are easily able to maintain
• Ensuring new designs and modifications have health and safety designed in.
• Witnesses Electrical and Instrumentation panel manufacturing, testing, commissioning work, and assists in commissioning / start-up of system.
• Managing electrical and instrumentation design; during the engineering, fabrication, construction, hook-up and commissioning phases for all projects
• Develops and designs systems - specifying controls philosophy for HMI, SCADA and DCS able to be explained to third parties.

Knowledge, Skills & Experience:

• 5 years of experience in a relevant field or time served in an electrical & instrumentation design role
• Understanding of PLCs and Automation
• Knowledge of UK regulations regarding electrical systems
• Understanding of electrical power distribution and protection for high, medium and low voltages (switchgear, transformers, motor control centers, lighting, automation cabinets, etc)

The Design Manager, will lead a small team of designers, developing a collaborative and innovative environment. You will develop and execute visual strategies that align with our brand identities and marketing goals. You will also oversee the design process from concept to completion, ensuring projects are delivered on time and within budget.
The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in design and can demonstrate a proven track record of creating compelling designs across diverse mediums, from print leaflets and digital ads to exhibition identity and wall graphics. You will have a strong understanding of brand strategy and the ability to manage projects, respond well to briefs and translate marketing objectives into visuals that engage our target audience.
Qualifications for this position include a degree in graphic design or a related field and/or proven experience, with a strong portfolio showcasing high-quality design skills. Proficiency in industry-standard design software (Adobe Creative Suite) is essential, as are excellent communication, interpersonal, and project management skills.
Role is based at the Herbert Art Gallery and Museum but will work across all our sites.
