Design & Technology (DT) Technician – 1 Year Fixed-Term(22.2 Hours Per Week / 39 Weeks Per Annum - Term-Time Only)Rate of pay: £12.80 – £13.69 per hour (Grade D).
We seek a suitable candidate to fulfil the role of DT Technician. The Design & Technology department at SMCC has well equipped preparation and teaching rooms. The technician would be required to support the delivery of Technology, Engineering, and other areas of the curriculum as directed as well as other areas of the schools’ operations.
The role involves taking responsibility for the practical resourcing for Ks3 and Ks4 classes under the direction of the teaching staff. This includes materials and equipment preparation. In-class support of students during experiments and practical work would be part of this on occasions. Being confident with hand tools, maintenance, workshop machines would be advantageous although full training will be provided.
The successful candidate will be enthusiastic with good communication skills. A knowledge of and passion for design and engineering would be highly desirable. Previous experience and/or a willingness to undergo training is essential. Good IT skills including in the use of spreadsheets, word processing, databases and others software would be beneficial.
