An exciting opportunity has arisen for a highly motivated and dynamic nurse or therapist to join the Dorset Multiple Sclerosis Service as an MS Specialist Nurse/Practitioner (or work towards this role in a Band 6-7 training post*).
We are looking for an enthusiastic and dedicated registered nurse or therapist with excellent communication skills and relevant experience to deliver high quality, specialist care to people with MS in the Dorset area, and to be part of the on-going development of this forward-thinking service.
You will use your knowledge and skills to provide proactive management of people with MS from diagnosis onwards, offering specialist assessment, intervention, monitoring and support to patients and their families. You will work within the hospital and community settings, across Dorset.
We are committed to continuous professional development and offer on-going training within the MS Service.*Band 7 in the training post would be gained after successful completion of the MS Development Module and module assignment (MS Trust) and full achievement of Band 6 competencies (with emergence into Band 7 competencies) in the local MS Nurse competency framework.
This role requires an active UK NMC Registration or an active HCPC Qualification or therapist with profession specific recognised registration

• To promote clinical excellence in the management of Multiple Sclerosis as a specialist nurse/practitioner. Working autonomously.
• To be a resource for in-depth knowledge of own specialist clinical area and actively disseminate relevant information through appropriate channels.
• To actively facilitate the delivery of expert specialised patient care based upon principles of evidence and best practice. This may be achieved either directly through personal contact or indirectly via supervision of practice.
• To provide information, advice and psychological support to patients, their families and health care professionals; liaising and referring on as necessary to the appropriate health care professional in hospital or the community.
• To engage in the formation of and delivery of educational programmes.
• To attend and actively participate in relevant Trust wide meetings.
