We are seeking a creative and organised Art Technician to join a thriving secondary school in Romford. This role is perfect for someone with a strong background in art who enjoys working in an educational setting. You will play a vital role in supporting the art department, ensuring that students have the resources they need to express their creativity.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare and organise art materials and equipment for lessons, ensuring that all resources are available and in good working order.
- Assist teachers in setting up classroom displays and exhibitions, contributing to a visually inspiring learning environment.
- Support students during practical sessions, providing guidance on the use of materials and tools.
- Maintain the art department's inventory, ordering supplies as needed, and ensuring that storage areas are tidy and well-organised.
- Carry out routine maintenance of art equipment, reporting any faults or issues to the appropriate personnel.
- Adhere to health and safety regulations, ensuring a safe working environment for both staff and students.
- Assist with administrative tasks, such as photocopying, cataloging resources, and preparing teaching materials.
Requirements:
- A background in art and design, with experience in an educational setting preferred.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently.
- Practical knowledge of a variety of art techniques, materials, and equipment.
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team, as well as independently.
- A keen eye for detail and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with both students and staff.
