Lead Engineer I – Mechanical

Position Reports to : Mechanical Engineering Discipline Head

Mandatory Requirements:

• Engineering Degree in a relevant discipline
• 15 years of total post graduation experience
• 10 years mechanical design experience in the Oil & Gas environment
• 5 years in the stated designation
• Minimum 2 years experience with KBR in the similar position
• A minimum of 3 years in automation software for the specialty.

Primary objective

To ensure mechanical equipment design integrity whilst leading the mechanical equipment engineering group on specific projects.

To provide specialist rotating equipment input to conceptual studies, FEEDs and detailed design for oil & gas developments.

Specific Accountabilities

• Ensure that design is fully compliant with Project Specification and client, international and local standards.
• Preparation of specifications for, and evaluation of, rotating equipment packages.
• Perform engineering design as required.
• Duties will include conceptual design and specification of rotating and packaged equipment and review of EPC’s detailed designs, technical bid evaluation and vendor documentation.
• Allocate work to team members. Ensure that within assigned team, personnel work within their competencies and with appropriate supervision.
• Quality Assurance – Responsible for working within the provisions and guidelines of the Quality Assurance system.
• Safety – Responsible for personal safety safe working practices. Understand and follow OH&S procedures.
• Ensure that conceptual and detail design work is appropriate for the complexity of the construction tasks and achieving a good balance between design costs and implementation costs.
• Evidence of feedback from supervisors and/or superintendents that constructability issues are addressed adequately in design and that work packs contain sufficient detail with no unnecessary content.
• Conduct site investigations, prepare reports.

Essential Skills/Experience

•  Hands on experience with large gas turbine driven compressors, pumps, generators packages is mandatory. Experience of other packaged equipment is desirable.
• Experience with the development of layouts for new facilities
• Experienced in the specification for, evaluation of and documentation for  rotating equipment packages in a PMC environment would be advantageous.
• Ability to work in accordance with broad technical guidelines and with minimal supervision.
•  Ability to work on multiple assignments to tight deadlines and prioritisation of work to achieve them.

Lead Engineer I- Piping

Position Reports to : Mechanical Engineering Discipline Head

Mandatory Requirements:

• Minimum 2 years experience with KBR in similar position
• B Eng (Hons) Degree in Mechanical Engineering
• At least 15 years total post graduation experience
• At least 10 years direct piping engineering  post graduation experience in the Oil and Gas industry, offshore and onshore or related petrochemicals industry (or power industry)
• At least 5 years experience in as Lead Design Engineer – Piping
• At least 3 years experience with the software for the automation of the specialty.
• Excellent computer skills with AutoCAD or Microstation, excellent skills with MS Excel, MS Word, MS Access, ability to create accurate design drawings from base project information, reporting, estimating and supervision skills

• Experience with 3D modelling systems such as PDS. PDMS or AutoPlant. 

• Experience with advanced engineering design and data systems such as SmartPlant P&ID, SmartPlant Foundation, SmartPlant Instrumentation, SmartPlant
• Extensive experience in conceptual and detailed design of Oil and Gas/petrochemicals facilities and piping equipment. Computer skills particularly in the use of piping simulation package such as HYSYS and PRO/11 and in commercial software including databases, spreadsheets and word piping packages.

Primary objective

• Co-ordination of specified tasks within the piping engineering discipline.
• Responsible for the progress and quality of assigned tasks within the piping area, including the supervision of engineers and graduates.
• To ensure all work carried out conforms with agreed codes and practices, meets all requirements of the contracts specification and ensure all work is carried out within agreed schedules, budgets and procedures.

Specific Accountabilities

• Management, technical execution and completion of engineering assigned tasks in a specific piping discipline area.
• Assisting the project engineers in the co-ordination and preparation of input into the contract documents for each discipline area, including design criteria, scope of work, procedures and design approach.
• Design Estimates
• Production and checking of design documents and drawings

Essential Skills/Experience

• Production and approval of PFDs, EFDs, MSDs, Cause and Effect Diagrams, Data Sheets, calculations and system modelling and simulation.
• Working to and using the company management systems.
• Ensuring compliance to company, client, local and international standards as given in the project PEP etc.
