As a Medical Secretary at our Taunton Hospital, you'll bring a keen eye for detail, strong secretarial skills and great communication abilities. You're proficient with Microsoft Office, comfortable working with numbers and you're committed to providing our teams with the best level of support.
As a Medical Secretary, you will:

Provide secretarial and administrative support to general surgery, ophthalmology, dermatology and orthopaedic consultants.

Communicate effectively with patients, wider health professionals and team members.

Prioritise a busy and demanding workload.

Type all forms of clinical correspondence as dictated by consultants and produce copies for relevant parties, filing of copies in correct sequence.

Store/forward medical records to appropriate departments.

Maintain patient databases: input, updating and retrieval and provide data as required.

Ensure completeness of all notes.

Process referrals and arrange appropriate outpatient appointments and subsequent procedure dates, as agree with patients and consultants.

Manage the consultant billing and invoicing requirements.

Have a very good understanding of GDPR and requirements within this role.
