To work within the Colorectal nursing team; to support the health professionals to deliver a high-quality service. The post holder will provide a support function for the Team. They will need to possess clerical and organisational skills and have the confidence to deal with a variety of people.
They will participate in the signposting of patients and carers, whilst liaising with the clinical nurse specialist team
As part of the Colorectal Nursing Team, to provide administrative support to the Team of Health Care Professionals including:
• Use of telephone, ensuring accurate interpretation of messages are conveyed to appropriate personnel, demonstrating a pleasant and professional manner at all time
• Advising/ informing appropriate personnel on relevant patients/ staff matters, ensuring attention to detail of sensitive information.
• Use of computerised data systems to input and retrieve patient information (training will be given).
• To liaise with multidisciplinary staff as appropriate, to ensure effective communication takes place at all times.
• Make hospital appointments, face to face/ telephone or virtual.
• Photocopying/scanning/printing & NHS email.

• Macmillan Patient Information booklets stock ordering and check deliveries, and upon arrival deal with any issues relating to stationary orders.
• Help implement systems and processes to support the teams.
• Maintain electronic filing systems for caseload patients ensuring they are kept up to date
• Arranging room bookings and confirmations for meetings.
• Taking notes at relevant meetings.
• Typing minutes and distribution of meeting minutes. Communication is often by email and applicants should be familiar with this.
• Carry out general word processing and computer duties required in the day to day running of the service – letters, reports, memo’s, completing spread sheets etc.
• Check stationary stock levels and order as necessary. Check deliveries and deal with any issues regarding the same.
• Seek advice and support from Line Manager whenever necessary.
• Maintain professional conduct including appearance at all times.
• Undertake all such reasonable other duties as may be required as part of the role.
• The post holder will adhere to the Data Protection Act and maintain confidentiality at all times
• Applicants should have a self- awareness as to the boundaries of their role, know when to seek advice rather than act independently.
• Liaise with departments and wards, in order to promote a good working environment, integration of research and open channels of communication.
