You will act as Medical Secretary for the teams Consultant Psychiatrist and other who are part of the prescribing team. Communicating with parents, staff and other professionals is an important task for this role,

The Medical Secretary role is a Full Time permanent position within the pan-Dorset ID CAMHS service. The role will involve working across the two sites in Dorset - Southbourne and Dorchester, with your base of work being in Seascape, Southbourne. You will need to have a valid driving licence and use of a car as you will be required to review and monitor patients in their own homes and within other community settings. Opportunities for flexible working are available as long as the service needs are met.

To act as secretary to the Consultant Psychiatrist and team including maintaining an electronic diary of appointments, taking messages as appropriate, drafting correspondence/replies and dealing with confidential information relating to patients and medical staff.

Contribute to the implementation and administration of computer data collection systems ensuring information is recorded accurately and on a regular and timely basis.



To ensure the provision of an effective and efficient secretarial and administrative support to the wider clinical team including dealing with telephone enquiries, relatives, GP’S social workers and other agencies maintaining good communication between all of the Child, Adolescent and Family Services.



To ensure outpatient appointments are made where necessary, including arranging home visits. This will also involve complying with DHUFT targets and protocols for access to services.

To maintain the effective distribution of incoming and outgoing mail.

To ensure that all correspondence is dealt with promptly and efficiently including typing, carry out audio-typing work for reports, liaison letters and clinic letters as required, including court reports.
