LAPD Maintenance Paint and Decoration is looking for a qualified and experienced painter to assist with operations. They will be responsible for mixing, matching, and applying paint to various surfaces, completing touch-ups and coordinating painting indoor and outdoor projects.
Tasks:
- Examine surface to determine the kind and amount of work necessary
- Make on site preparations such as building scaffolding, covering fixtures etc
- Prepare walls and other surfaces for painting by scraping, using sandpaper, removing old paint etc
- Apply paint to walls and structures and protect surrounding areas
- Make assessments on paint color, mix and match pigments using multiple techniques and tools
- Remove previous paint using a number of methods to prepare surfaces
- Use different tools and brushes to apply paints with attention to details
- Support other team members to ensure completion of projects on time and according to specifications
- Work on residential and commercial work projects
- Understand and comply with industry safety and environmental policies and procedures.
Requirements:
- Australian citizens and residents encouraged to apply
- Minimum AQF Certificate III including at least 2 years of on-the-job training, or AQF Certificate IV or higher qualifications (three years of experience may substitute for formal qualifications)
- Minimum 3 years of experience as a painter
- Knowledge of all the applicable health and safety standards
- Good planning and organisational skills
- Attention to detail
- Communication skills
- Good balance and physical strength
- Able to work efficiently with and without supervision
