Summer Technical Intern Job Description
KBR’s global business comprises two main segments – Sustainable Technology Solutions (STS) and Government Solutions (GS). This role sits within the Consultancy International team, which is part of the STS business unit.
KBR Consulting International draws on a heritage of over thirty-five years specialising in the front-end phases of engineering projects from pre-feasibility, up to and including preliminary Front End Engineering Design (FEED) phases. In addition, we undertake small FEEDs as well as providing specialist consultancy to later through to phases of projects. The front-end nature of the work means that we are often involved in developments in areas and technologies new to the engineering industry.
The Technical Intern will work full-time for an agreed period (typically 8-10 weeks) during the University summer vacation within the Consultancy International technical team. The role will be located in KBR’s Leatherhead office.
The primary activity of the Intern will be to develop, progress and test Consultancy International technical software tools and databases, which are used as part of the group’s Consultancy activities.
Depending upon group workload and opportunity, the Intern may also support execution of Consulting studies.

- Working towards or completing a relevant degree in Chemical Engineering (or closely related subject). Hence good basic understanding of chemical engineering principles and methods.
- Ideally good knowledge of computer programming languages such as Python and PowerBI.
- Must be a self-starter, able to work independently with minimal supervision and work well in a team environment when needed.
- Good human relations skills are required.
- Excellent writing and verbal communication skills.
