We are delighted to be advertising a full-time locum post for a Consultant Radiologist at University College London Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, specialising in musculoskeletal imaging. The post-holder will support the delivery of MSK and haematological imaging including bone marrow and whole body imaging including multiple myeloma. The post will involve support for the multiple myeloma MDT meetings.
This is a full-time locum NHS consultant post within Department of Radiology in the Imaging Division of the Surgery and Cancer Clinical Board.
The post carries a requirement for diagnostic on-call service.
The post-holder must have sub-specialty experience in musculoskeletal Radiology, as well as skills and experience in general radiology and oncology imaging in order to support the delivery of services at UCH. The Radiology Department is very active in both teaching and clinical innovation and the post-holder would be expected to participate in these.
Applicants should possess the FRCR or equivalent and be on the specialist register or within 6 months of obtaining their CCST.

Provide support for multiple myeloma MDT.

The successful candidate will join a team nine musculoskeletal radiologists at UCLH: Professor Margaret Hall-Craggs, Dr Charles House, Dr Kannan Rajesparan, Dr Monika Rowe, Dr Maaz Abbassi, Dr Niels Van Vucht, Dr Saurabh Singh, Dr Timothy Bray, Dr Anika Choraria. There is a strong training element with rotating senior and junior registrars.
UCLH provides clinical services for a wide range of MSK diseases including sarcoma, haematological malignancies, adult and paediatric rheumatological conditions, orthopaedics and trauma, sports injuries, oncology (including sarcomas and myeloma) and infectious diseases.
UCLH is a specialist centre for many types of cancer and treat patients from both our local area and across the country within state-of-the-art facilities.
The Department of Rheumatology is a UK centre of excellence for clinical care, training and research. The Department provides a specialist service for both adult and adolescent patients with any rheumatological disease.
The Trauma and Orthopaedics Department have ~20 orthopaedic consultants who specialise in a range of trauma, routine and specialist areas, including upper limb, lower limb, complex hip, hand and wrist and a sports injury clinic.
The post-holder will be accountable to the Divisional Clinical Director. The post is within Radiology in the Imaging Division of the Surgery and Cancer Clinical Board.
The post-holder will work together with multidisciplinary teams to develop and provide musculoskeletal and haematological imaging within the Department and to ensure development of the service under the guidance of the clinical lead. In particular the post holder will support the delivery of bone marrow and whole body imaging for haematological diseases, such as multiple myeloma, which form a key part of UCLH’s imaging workload. The post carries a requirement for diagnostic on-call service. There is a separate on call service covering Intervention, which is currently shared amongst all six members of the Interventional team.
Direct Clinical Care Activities:
The clinical job will include both reporting sessions, ultrasound sessions and myeloma MDT cover. The post-holder will have timetabled MDT cover and prep-time. The post-holder will have timetabled sessions working with the acute radiology team and will join the diagnostic on-call rota.
Consultant Radiologists at UCLH enjoy an excellent work/life balance and each are provided with a diagnostic workstation for home reporting. Weekday out-of-hours Consultant cover is provided by the inhouse acute team Consultant until 7 pm and outsourced thereafter. There is a weekend on call for general radiology, with an approximate 1:25 (two weekends per year), and time off in lieu granted if undertaken on site.
