• Plans and carries out difficult and complex assignments in a variety of systems administration areas and desktop support. Major Duties and Responsibilities

Guest Relations and Patient Transport :

• The incumbent carries out required performance of this position as transportation program support assistant Guest Relations Program to the Office of Veteran Experience. The program is designed to provide Veterans/patients, their families and visitors with staff who can respond quickly to inquiries, identify problems, and improve the experience of those visiting the campus. The services are designed to respond to customer immediate needs including navigation, direction, and information assistance.
• As a key challenge of patients, navigating the campus will be a primary focus along with providing a positive first impression. For those who do not know how to access medical center programs and/or services, personal assistance will be provided by the staff. The incumbent serves as the initial, as well as the final point of contact for guests entering and leaving the facility and is a key influence toward patient/public perception. In this role, the incumbent performs these responsibilities using skills that will foster a culture of care at the VA facility. The incumbent is assigned to the Office of Veteran Experience and Employee Engagement.
• The incumbent performs customer service guest relations, shows understanding, friendliness, courtesy, tact, empathy, cooperation, concern, politeness respect and dignity to others; relates well to people from varied backgrounds and different situations. He/She receives, greets and direct callers over the telephone and in person with precise clear instructions. He/She provides a variety of information about the organization, its functions, and activities and is able to meet the needs of the individual and explain in general terms the information in a way that is understandable to the target audience. or to resolve confusion surrounding the inquiry. He/She provides the assistance requested to ease the experience of the customer. Independently conducts group guidance sessions of a varying nature. This counseling deals with institutional adjustment, U.S. Parole commission, release planning, and interpersonal communications, individual counseling sessions varying in methods and intensity relevant to the individual's problems. They may focus on helping the individual offender understand and live within the complex family circumstances and assist him in developing new adjustment techniques. The Case Manager helps the offender view problems objectively and to deal with them realistically. Routinely deals with community resources to secure information and develop release plans. Prepare special progress reports for such consideration as parole, transfer, restoration of forfeited good time, and makes appropriate recommendations. Corresponds with attorneys, judges, probation and parole officers and other professionals regarding the inmate's case.

Prepares diagnostic studies, responsible for collecting, interpreting and evaluating factual information reflecting developmental and circumstantial factors for the assigned caseload of inmates. Acts in a liaison capacity with other units and institutional employees on matters concerning inmate behavior. Serves as the primary liaison with the U.S. Parole Commission in reporting the inmate's program progress, readiness or lack of readiness for release, and resources in the community relevant to the desirability of his release. Actively develops program planning by presenting cases to the Unit Team and coordinating case management services with other correctional disciplines.

Along with all other correctional institution employees, incumbent is charged with responsibility for maintaining security of the institution. The staff correctional responsibilities precede all others required by this position and are performed on a regular and recurring basis.

Primary responsibility is to provide supervision and instruction to 25-30 inmate workers who are assigned the duties of cooks, butchers, bakers, dining and dish workers, vegetable preparation workers, and pot and pan washers.

Provides continual training to the inmate workers in order to update their knowledge in all phases of production, presentation, and sanitation of food items. Oversees the receiving, storing, and issue of all food and non-food items.

Responsible for security operations such as key control, yeast control, knife and blade control, inmate accountability and conducts routine contraband searches throughout the work area.

Along with all other correctional institution employees, incumbent is charged with responsibility for maintaining security of the institution. The staff correctional responsibilities precede all others required by this position and are performed on a regular and recurring basis.

• The incumbent serves as a Lead Security Guard assigned under the authority of the Senior Commander at IMCOM supported installations.
• Perform security guard duties in accordance with appropriate regulations to detect and prevent theft, damage, accident, trespass, sabotage and espionage.
• Enforce the security regulations of the installation.
• Control access of vehicles and pedestrians to installation.
• Verify identification through use of identification cards, badges, biometrics automated records, verbal questioning, and other means.

Referrals will be managed timely and appropriately using the Outpatient Social Work response protocol(s).
• Possess a working knowledge and experience in use of medical terminology, medical/mental health diagnoses, disabilities, treatment procedures including acute, chronic, and traumatic illnesses, common medications, and their side effects.
• Demonstrates a skill in assessment, intervention and treatment plan development when addressing the comprehensive psychosocial needs of the Veterans .
• Will assess the patient to identifying emotional, social, physical, familial, economic instability, and vocational needs that may be causing distress and impacting the health condition or creating barriers to the patient receiving recommended care/treatment. Stressors can include adjustment to the current medical condition, untreated or under-treated Mental Health or Substance Abuse condition, economic instability, legal problems, inadequate housing and transportation, abuse/neglect and exploitation.
• Must complete a thorough assessment to determine the underlying causes of the presenting issue(s), interpersonal and environmental factors, the patient's functional acuity and its effect on the patient's ability and desire to comply with treatment recommendations by the multidisciplinary treatment team.
• Provide a thoughtful approach to assist the patient/ family to understand the contributing factors to the identified issue(s), discuss available short/long term solutions and/or resources, using a strengths-based empowerment model to formulate an appropriate patient centered intervention plan to reduce stressors, improve health and reach health related goals.
• Actively participate as a member of the interdisciplinary treatment team and actively participate through collaboration with Veterans/family/caregivers/Non-VA providers.
• Must be available to provide consultation to treatment team and staff members regarding psychosocial needs of Veterans, the impact of the identified psychosocial barrier on the Veteran's health care planning and compliance with treatment and available interventions/programs/services available to assist in resolving identified barriers.
• Identify appropriate VHA/VBA/community resources and facilitate utilization of and linkage to these resources by the veteran and family to assist clientele in reaching optimal functioning.
