The Registered Nurse, NIEC Program Manger executes position responsibilities that demonstrate leadership, experience, and creative approaches to the management program aspects. Demonstrates expert leadership in delivering and improving holistic care through collaborative strategies with others. Evaluates practice in an ongoing process, based on best evidence. Conducts knowledge sharing to provide safe, quality nursing care. Provides peers with informal constructive feedback for improvement. Fosters a safe and supportive environment conducive to the professional development of health care professionals. Partners and leads others to effect change and produce optimal outcomes. Evaluates outcomes of evidence-based decisions and practice changes for individuals, groups, and populations.
The NIEC Program Manager demonstrates performance and leadership that is broad enough to impact the standard of care and safety of staff. Establishes and maintains an ongoing education program for Veterans, Veterans families, community agencies, students, and staff to facilitate understanding of clinical practice guidelines. Develops and facilitates NIEC focused direction, orientation, coaching, in-service training, staff development, and continuing education programs for Veterans (VA) facility staff and the community. Develops and implements a plan for outreach to Veterans Affairs (VA) facility staff and the community. Develops and implements a plan for outreach to Veterans and Veteran caregivers who may benefit from the NIEC program services (but who do not presently use VA for their health care needs) to include outreach. Maintains a current network of referral resources to include peer support mentoring groups, caregiver skill building and self-care educational opportunities, mental heal support, legal and financial services.
The NIEC Program Manager is the subject matter expert to VA facility leadership and staff for all NIEC related issues and services as a consultant to other VA professionals and administrators on program specific activities. Services as a liaison to the Veterans Integrated Service Network Program (VISN) NIEC Program and the VA Central Office (VACO) Program. Collaborates with facility, VISN, and VACO to develop and implement solutions- participating in national, regional, and VISN operational calls; contributing to national leadership council committees; and implementing cultural transformation initiatives.
