The Lead Medical Support Assistant (LMSA) in V16 Clinical Resource Hub is assigned to the Central Arkansas Veterans Healthcare System, Little Rock, Arkansas. The LMSA will normally work at the HUB located on 900 South Shackelford Road, Little Rock, AR or remotely. The LMSA Performs duties related to the receipt, intake and indexing of health and administrative information and will interface with personal computer (PC) applications as well as numerous Vista applications. The LMSA monitors and makes work assignments, provides input on performance, resolves daily workplace issues and maintains efficient workflow.

The primary duties of the Lead Medical Support Assistant (LMSA) may include but are not limited to:

• Responsible for the pre-employment process to include extending tentative job offers, initiating and tracking drug testing and medical reviews, establishing start dates, and responding accordingly to inquiries while providing continual HR support.
• Researches and applies laws, regulations, policies, and precedents of Federal employee retirement, group life insurance, health benefits, and Thrift Savings Plan programs to provide advice and guidance to management, employees, and beneficiaries.
• Responsible for processing personnel and payroll actions to include coding, calculation of service computation dates, within-grade increases, pay adjustments, system errors, and accessions and separations into the National Finance Center (NFC).

DUTIES:
Medical Support Assistants provide administrative support to our clinical colleagues in the care of our Nation's Veterans. Our mission is to provide efficient and effective healthcare services by promoting and enabling the delivery of timely, accurate, accessible health care. GS-5: This is the full performance level MSA position. The MSA is responsible for scheduling appointments in accordance with national scheduling guidelines, including interpreting and verifying provider orders. Assignments at this level include, but are not limited to: scheduling, canceling, re-scheduling patient's appointments and/or consults; entering no-show information; monitoring the electronic wait list; preparing for clinic visits; monitoring both inpatient and outpatient appointments for areas of responsibility; ensuring encounter forms are completed in order to obtain appropriate workload credit; verifying and updating demographics and insurance information; processing all emergency and non-emergency transfers to other VA facilities or private hospitals; performing basic eligibility, co-pays and pre-authorization requirements for specific coverage.

The Advanced MSA primary duties are to perform a variety of administrative support functions in connection with Veteran's inpatient and outpatient visits, care, and treatment while working collaboratively in an interdisciplinary coordinated care delivery model. Work involves specialized administrative judgment and the flexible use of a wide range of clinical flow processes relating to access to care across multiple clinics and specialties. Some of the major duties of this position include, and are not limited to:

• Schedule appointments in a timely manner. All appointments will be made with the patient's input, either in person or by phone. This may require a high level of coordination to avoid patients and sending sites not being able to conduct their CVT appointments.
• Daily review of active/pending consults, Recall list, and communications for accuracy and disposition.
• Monitor pre-appointment requirements to assure readiness for virtual (CVT/VVC/phone) visits.
• Incumbent will use the appropriate scheduling platform for scheduling needs. Which includes CRPS, VISTA, VSE, CTM, and/or TMP, when applicable.
• Work with the interdisciplinary team to schedule follow-up visits for inpatients and outpatients in the CRH Clinics with various providers and in a variety of modalities (face-to-face, VVC, and phone if needed).
• Coordinate care of Veterans at other VA facilities within the VISN.
• Obtain appropriate inpatient and outpatient records and ensure they are appropriately entered into the VA computerized system to ensure availability for patient care.

This Case Management Assistant position is located Direct Reports, Civil Rights and Liberties, Ombudsman and Traveler Engagement, Transportation Security Administration, Department of Homeland Security (DHS). Duties include but are not limited to:

• Using detailed knowledge and experience, accesses the redress case management database to process and track redress applications from the traveling public, and reviews incoming applications for completeness ensuring that they are referred to the correct partner organization for analysis.
• Assists supervisor in researching and obtaining information to prepare findings, review plans and special studies.
• Prepares a wide variety of recurring and nonrecurring reports and other documents and reviews/finalizes documents prepared by others.
