We have a much-loved presence on high streets across the country - with a range of innovative shops, including boutiques, vintage and retro shops, and large format stores. As a member of the retail team, you’ll be helping us inspire communities to provide more care for more people through innovating and collaborating on ways to reduce, reuse and recycle. You will also be contributing to drive up the income that generates the vital funds necessary to keep our care and support services running.

We understand our people are our most important asset and work hard to make sure you feel valued and included as part of a team. In retail most work every weekend, our managers mainly work only 1 in 2. We don't expect our teams to work past 5.15 in most of our shops. The earliest we start is 8.45am. We have every Christmas Eve, Christmas Day and Boxing Day off.

Our shop sells quality ladies wear, menswear, bric-a-brac, accessories and kid's clothing and toys. We also sell vinyl and books - pop in to find yourself a gem.

About you
Are you an experienced proactive shop manager? Do you have the retail skills to manage our charity store? If so, come and join the team at our Matlock shop and contribute to the work we do across Sue Ryder!

To be successful in this role you’ll have the commercial awareness to deliver sales and meet deadlines combined with ability to plan and prioritise. You will have proven team leadership skills and the ability to lead a large team of volunteers. It is essential is that you enjoy engaging with people, you have a positive can-do attitude and a good understanding of financial and IT administration.

Other responsibilities include:

• As Shop Manager you will be using your skills and retail experience to drive business, push sales and achieve targets.
• Lead your team to deliver great customer service to our donors and customers.
• Work with the local community to generate sufficient donated stock to drive sales.
• Recruit, train & retain a volunteer team, who'll look to you for leadership and guidance.
• Set high standards of merchandising and housekeeping, ensuring you and your teams health and safety is a priority.
• Manage effective stock processes to ensure your shop is well merchandised with fresh, seasonal stock at all times.

You will find the Sue Ryder Lordshill shop nestled in the small community of Lordshill Southampton. We are a very community based shop as we have been located here for 25 years. Our customers always say every day is a surprise when I enter your shop. Our volunteers say, It's like Christmas: we never know what we are going to find in these bags. We do find some amazing things when we are sorting.
Inside the shop you will find our bric-a-brac section which is like Aladdin’s Cave. Our men's and ladies' fashion departments are always full of designer clothing and accessories, from Karen Millen and Ben Sherman to Fred Perry and Nike. Our media and book section is always filled to the brim with a great selection to choose from. We are always looking for more volunteers.

We are a community store in Royal Leamington Spa, situated in beautiful Victorian surroundings. Our shop boasts a fantastic eclectic mix of high quality fashion clothing. Complimenting this we also sell a fabulous range of vintage clothing and ceramics, high quality furniture and interesting retro pieces.

We have a much-loved presence on high streets across the country - with a range of innovative shops, including boutiques, vintage and retro shops, and large format stores. As a member of the retail team you’ll be helping us inspire communities to provide more care for more people through innovating and collaborating on ways to reduce, reuse and recycle. You will also be contributing to drive up the income that generates the vital funds necessary to keep our care and support services running.

We understand our people are our most important asset and work hard to make sure you feel valued and included as part of a team. In retail most work every weekend, our managers mainly work only 1 in 2. We don't expect our teams to work past 5.15 in most of our shops. The earliest we start is 8.45am. We have every Christmas Eve, Christmas Day and Boxing Day off.

From furniture, electrics and household items such as books and DVDs, through to ladies, men’s and children’s clothing. We also stock a wide range of new goods such as household items, soft furnishings from your favorite high street brands, as well as a great range of donated furniture. We put out new stock daily, so you never know what you may find when you stop by. We have a large car park for easy collections and dropping off donations, and offer free furniture collections two days a week.

About you

You will have retail experience with the commercial awareness to deliver sales. You’ll have a positive attitude and good judgement to do the right thing. You will have proven team leadership skills and the ability to help lead a large team of volunteers. It is essential is that you enjoy engaging with people, you have a positive can do attitude and a good understanding of financial and IT administration

The key responsibilities include:

• As Assistant Shop Manager you will be using your skills and retail experience to help drive business, push sales and achieve targets.
• Help to lead a team to deliver great customer service to our donors and customers
• Work with the local community to generate sufficient donated stock to drive sales.
• Help to recruit, train & retain a volunteer team, who'll look to you and the shop manager for leadership and guidance.
• Set high standards of merchandising and housekeeping, ensuring you and your teams health and safety is a priority
• Help to manage effective stock processes to ensure your shop is well merchandised with fresh, seasonal stock at all times.
• Act as a brand ambassador for Sue Ryder, supporting in store campaign’s to promote the brand and national fundraising initiatives.
• Help to manage an effective stock processes through the Epos operation
