WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING DAY TO DAY

As a Public Affair Specialist (Digital Information/Social Media), you will use your knowledge of and experience to optimize business results and customer experience by:

• Communicating with leadership, centers and offices to create engaging content for social media. Ensuring communication, visual standards, brand standards are met.
• Serving as a consultant and catalyst for improving the way SAMHSA delivers information to its employees and the public via its digital platforms. • Identifying specific statistical research areas that merit investigation, developing new hypotheses, and approaches for studies, and evaluating the feasibility of such endeavors.
• Initiating, formulating, planning, and executing analytic research projects and researching the quality of methodologies and measures pertaining to the assessment of the subject matter being studied.
• Conducting research and statistical studies or projects related to statistical computation in the preparation of mental health and substance use prevalence, surveillance, and/or treatment utilization research.
• Evaluating the data, drawing inferences and arriving at conclusions making use of text, graphs, charts, and tables to ensure its most effective presentation.
• Preparing comprehensive reports of study results to include discussion of substantive research objectives.

• Planning, developing, and implementing public behavioral health programs in collaboration with local, state, other Federal and/or international governments and various public, nonprofit, and private and health related organizations.
• Reviewing congressional and legislative actions; assessing impact on public health program activities, initiatives, and policies; and initiating action accordingly.
• Conducting and/or assisting in the development and delivery of training courses (e.g., community planning, prevention and intervention, outreach strategies, data collection, etc.,); and assisting with special studies and/or demonstrations.

WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING DAY TO DAY

As a Visual Information Specialist, you will use your knowledge of and experience to optimize business results and customer experience by:

• Supporting the organization by producing graphic design products that are consistently creative, research-based, and developed with an audience-first approach in alignment with creative briefs, client goals, industry best practices, and project requirements.
• Developing presentations using commercially available presentation software, including graphics, charts, graphs, and photos.
• Developing infographics, flyers, handouts, in both print and digital form.
• Working collaboratively with colleagues, contractors, and stakeholders, responsible for completing projects based on project criteria, prioritization, and resourcing needs.
• Presenting or overseeing presentation of final concepts and obtaining reviews and approvals for deliverables from clients and stakeholders where appropriate.
• Developing print ready files for printed publications, posters, folders, and media kits.
• Laying out publications using commercially available design software, providing graphics, creating files and instructions for printers, working with printers to ensure quality, and ensuring products are completed on time.

ABOUT THE POSITION

The Director is fully responsible for the overall management, design, development, evaluation, and coordinating of activities for the Center. Implements a full range of duties including all matters concerning personnel recruitment, selection, and performance assessment; development and control of the Center's budget and approval of activities requiring the Center's resources. The incumbent will have oversight and authority of the Block Grant Program for data collection, evaluations, and the National Data Base(s).

Provides leadership in the development of a national substance abuse and mental health epidemiological studies program, including surveys, studies, methodological developments and systems which may involve over 3600 clinics, 1000 programs, 56 State and Territorial mental health and/or substance abuse programs, and numerous federal agencies.

Exercises oversight responsibility for epidemiological studies and service system data collection activities performed by the components of SAMHSA and provides expertise relative to epidemiological field investigations, research methods, statistical analysis and systems design. Assists the components through creative program management and development, in maximizing existing data analysis and collection programs to meet the new and changing needs of the field.

ABOUT THE POSITION

Supports the Director in oversight of all administration functions, including human resource planning and management, financial management and analysis, performance monitoring and reporting systems management, action item tracking, data request coordination, space planning, and any other related activities to assure the fulfillment of the overall administrative standards and process for the office.

Supports the Director in planning and implementing policies and initiatives related to behavioral health statistics, program evaluation and/or epidemiology.

Executive managerial and diplomacy skills are required to perform a variety of high-level policy coordinative, consultative, advisory, and management services. Provide executive leadership in the establishment of short and long-range goals, objectives, and plans for substance use disorders and ensures consistency with goals and objectives established by HHS, the Office of National Drug Control Policy (ONDCP), other federal agencies and the health community.

Provides advice to the Center Director in coordinating and establishing policies, procedures, and standards for cross agency program initiatives i.e., data analytical designs and strategies, evidence based program evaluation and health information technology.

As a Management Analyst, you will use your knowledge of and experience to optimize business results and customer experience by:

• Serving as the advisor to internal and external clients in the areas of performance management and employee recognition.
• Providing expert analysis and evaluation of work processes and policies, management practices and work operations taking into full consideration complex legislative, programmatic and management issues and problems.
• Formulating and recommending additional policies and procedures or modifications to existing guidance to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of managerial operations.
• Advising managers and program officials on policies and procedures including actions to be taken to accomplish work in accordance with established requirements.
• Preparing comprehensive reports of findings and recommendations considering such factors as actual accomplishments versus established goals, adequacy of existing versus new programs, and costs incurred in the conduct of the program.
• Analyzing and evaluating the management practices and methods, and administrative operations of substantive organizations and complex functions.
• Identifying best practices and advising organizational leadership on how they could be adopted throughout the organization.

As a Public Health Advisor, you will use your knowledge of and experience to optimize business results and customer experience by:

• Serving as a principal representative responsible for coordinated, innovative, community-based and evidence based, or novel public health programs, initiatives, grants and related matters between and among Federal, local, state, and community-based organizations addressing behavioral health issues.
• Serving as the contact point for all inquiries and activities for the Office of Behavioral Health Equity (OBHE) related to infant, children and young adults; drawing on their judgment, experience and knowledge in being able to interact with and obtain critical problem information from groups representing underserved populations, providers, youth with lived experience and or in recovery, families, schools, community-based organizations, states, local county governments, and national associations.
• Coordinating the development of information and education materials on product problems such as press releases, talking papers, and fact sheets to alert public or lay users about specific problems, and papers for presentation at conferences or meetings of professional
  organizations.
• Serving on committees, intra- and inter-agency workgroups and other comparable groups delegated responsibility for reviewing and developing public health policies and procedures and guidelines.
