This position is located within the Department of the Interior, Office of the Secretary, Office of Policy, Management and Budget (PMB), Office of Wildland Fire.
Note on Duty Station: This position is being advertised as location negotiable after selection (Remote) and duty station(s) of Boise, Idaho; Portland Oregon; and Missoula, Montana with the option of telework. If applying to "negotiable after selection", this means that your duty station will be based off your home address, and you will be a full-time remote worker. If applying to a specific duty station, you may be allowed to telework a set number of day(s) per pay period, with supervisory approval".
At the full performance level GS-14 the major duties of this position include, but are not limited to the following:
- Provides leadership, clinical oversight, recommendations, and consultations to responder-focused programs developed within the DOI bureau health and wellbeing programs and to the DOI/USFS Wildland Firefighter Behavioral Health and Wellbeing Program.
- Applies behavioral, clinical, and organizational psychology to develop and implement programs, tools, and resources that are relevant for employees, leadership and systems to use in response to organizational needs.3) Informs strategic planning and coordination across health and wellbeing programs within DOI Bureaus to support Departmental goals and mandates; establishes requirements, leverages resources, and advances consistency and standardization of psychological health programming in DOI.
- Provides leadership, direction, and coordination across bureaus and interagency partners to increase alignment in evidence-based practices; reduce overlap, duplication, or conflict of services; address gaps in services and resources; and help achieve greater collective success through leveraging and sharing of resources.
- Leads and guides cross-pollination of promising efforts and initiatives to all responder communities within DOI, promoting adoption of program elements and framework informed by the current state of science.
- Develops and implements evidence-based tools, resources, and interventions to prevent or reduce the prevalence of mental health concerns while promoting resilience and overall wellbeing. Leads and conducts program reviews to evaluate effectiveness and recommend corrective actions, improvements, and solutions designed to resolve deficiencies and improve capabilities and efficiency.
- Coordinates with the Interior/USDA Wildland Firefighter Behavioral Health Program Director to ensure evidence informed strategies and services are implemented across Interior bureaus and USFS.
- Conducts research and benchmarking, collaborating with federal, private, and academic organizations to identify current mental health and resiliency issues, successful interventions and programs. Builds partnerships to conduct research and engage in advocacy and/or special initiatives.
Telework: The Office of Wildland Fire has determined that the duties of this position are suitable for telework and the selectee may be allowed to telework with supervisor approval.

Missoula, Montana Salary Range Information: $122,198 - $158,860 per annum
Portland, Oregon Salary Range Information: $131,445 - $170,881 per annum
