Teaching

You will not be expected to take on any formal teaching responsibility. Help with informal teaching of ward based medical students is encouraged. If you have a particular interest in teaching, we will support you within the constraints of your timetable.

The maternity department is one of the largest in the country, with more than 6,000 deliveries per annum with a 15 bed Consultant led delivery suite, a co-located birth unit performing over 900 deliveries per year and a standalone birth centre at Cossham Hospital with 500 deliveries per year We have extensive maternal medicine services for specialist endocrine, epilepsy, haematology and renal clinics and run additional specialist antenatal clinics for women including substance misuse, mental health and blood borne viruses. We also have an active fetal medicine department and tertiary level 3 neonatal unit.

Are you looking for a job where you can work clinically in a highly respected and effective pre-op and surgical pharmacy team whilst also playing a crucial role in the education of the next generation of pharmacists, then read on!

This is a well-established joint post between Bath University and NBT which is equally split between both roles. The post holder will be responsible for developing, delivering, and assessing practice-based learning at an undergraduate levelandbe part of the Pre-Op Surgery pharmacy team providing a clinical service to the specialty.

This joint appointment will involve working collaboratively with other practice educators to design, deliver and assess practice based learning elements of the pharmacy undergraduate degree course including our very successful Clinical Learning in Practice (CLIP) model. The successful individual would be required to cover a range of face to face teaching activities and elements of assessment. There is also a requirement to provide pastoral support to individual students.

Whilst working within the hospital you will be part of the Pre-Op surgery team, providing cover to the clinic on a sessional basis and supporting the clinical management of surgical patients at NBT.

The role has a major focus on teaching and potential candidates must therefore have excellent presentation and communication skills, have completed a clinical diploma, and be able to work both at the University in Bath and Southmead hospital in Bristol.

Design and deliver high quality teaching which is informed by significant professional experience gained via practice, research/study and teaching experience, to undergraduate students on the new MPharm programme - to include lectures, workshops, applied pharmacy practice skills sessions and supervision of dissertations or projects, assessment and marking and pastoral care of students, in line with Department and University policy. Primarily the teaching commitment associated with this role will be in the practice setting.
Carry out a significant role in the design, development and delivery of practice-based learning in the department of pharmacy and pharmacology.
Contribute effectively to University wide developments and innovation in the design and delivery of teaching. This may include participation in professional accreditation activities where necessary. Whilst it is essential that teaching is informed by research/professional expertise there is no research component in this role.

Practice Educator Role
1. Deliver high quality teaching to undergraduate and postgraduate students which is informed by significant professional expertise gained via practice, research/study and extensive teaching experience. Pre-Op Surgery Pharmacist
1. Responsible for the provision, management and development of a highly specialist pharmaceutical service to the Anaesthetics, Surgery, Critical Care and Renal (ASCR) Division to achieve a high standard of efficiency and effectiveness.
2. Responsible for the provision, management and development of a highly specialist pharmaceutical service to the Pre-Operative Assessment Clinics and managing the pharmaceutical care in the per and peri-operative period.
3. Clinically screen prescriptions to ensure the safe, efficient, evidence-based and rational use of medicines in line with the BNSSG Formulary and departmental policies so that risks to patients areminimised.
4. Contribute to the overall development of the clinical pharmacy service through active participation in relevant meetings. Work closely with all members of the pharmacy department and other healthcareprofessionals.
5. Attend consultant and ward board rounds whenever possible to provide pharmaceutical expertise

Applications are invited to fill this whole-time Consultant Histopathologist post. Applicants should have an established or developing interest in GI and Hepatopathology.

This is a replacement post offering an exceptional opportunity to join a dynamic Cellular Pathology Service and to develop specialist diagnostic and research interests with the enthusiastic support of the corresponding clinical teams.

The department has recently implemented a digital pathology solution as part of a pathology network initiative and, once full roll-out is achieved, will provide opportunities for flexible working. Although this is an opportunity to fill a permanent position within the department, consideration will also be given to applicants meeting the requirements of the role wishing to take up the post on a fixed-term (minimum one year) basis.

For individuals taking up a permanent post, a Recruitment and Retention Premium up to the value of £20,000 is available to the successful candidate and additional assistance with relocation and accommodation is available.

The post-holder will join the team of specialist Histopathologists within the department who collectively support the clinical services in Bristol and Weston. The service is delivered from a purpose-built Pathology centre built on the Southmead Hospital site. The department continues to provide an Essential Services Laboratory at the Bristol Royal Infirmary.





The existing Cellular Pathology service was formed in May 2016 when the North Bristol service and the UHBristol service came together to provide a single service for Bristol. In April 2019, the work that had been delivered from Weston General Hospital also moved to this department. We provide cervical screening services to the South West region.

We, Severn Pathology, provide several services under one roof. Importantly, the Genomics laboratory Hub is co-located with the other pathology disciplines and is the lead provider of laboratory services for the South West of England.

Individuals wishing to apply must be registered Medical Practitioners (with a licence to practice) and on the Specialist Register of the GMC or be eligible to be on the Specialist Register within six months of the date of the Advisory Appointments Committee. Applicants must also have Fellowship of the Royal College of Pathologists.

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our well-established Haematology Service in a newly developed combined cancer support worker and pathway navigator position. This role will be split into 3 days a week Cancer Support Worker, based with CNS team, and 2 days a week Cancer Navigator focus, based in the Haeamtology administration office.

Under the guidance and supervision of the CNS team and the management team, this combined role will facilitate and support:
• Care Delivery
• Communication and co-ordination

• Administration duties for the Haematology service

Consultant Interventional Radiologist

Applications are invited for a Consultant in Interventional Radiology.

The successful applicant will join an enthusiastic team of 8 full-time IR Consultants and participate in a 1:9 IR on-call rota covering Vascular and non-Vascular interventions. The department enjoys close working relationships with Vascular Surgery, Urology and a wide range of other surgical and medical specialities. Core skill set will include nephrostomy drainage, embolization for haemorrhage control and endovascular interventions for peripheral vascular disease. Experience with EVAR is desirable. Interests in gastro-intestinal interventional radiology would be welcome with a growing demand for these procedures. Similarly North Bristol NHS Trust performs around 100 PCNLs per annum. The department has close links with neighbouring Trusts, and provides a regional on-call service delivered through NBT. There may be opportunities for some elective daytime cross-site working.

North Bristol NHS Trust is the regional Major Trauma Centre and a requirement of the post is proven ability in the endovascular management of traumatic haemorrhage. Our department is an essential part of NBT’s Major Arterial Centre and of the Bristol, Bath and Weston Vascular Network. The successful candidate will be working as an ST 3-5 anaesthetist. The clinical component of the post will include participation in an on-call rota.

NBT covers all surgical specialties except cardiac, ENT and paediatrics. • To work closely and build a good relationship with parents and ensure all relevant information is available to parents and communicate with them daily as regards their child’s welfare
• To work as part of the team under the guidance of qualified Early Years Practitioners, usually in one room but being flexible about working in other rooms with different age groups and occasionally, working at other locations within North Bristol Trust
• To attend staff training, feeding back information to colleagues and to keep up to date with childcare information
• To be aware of and understand the Statutory Framework for the Early Years Foundation Stage including the Welfare Requirements which is implemented and lead by the manager
• To follow North Bristol Trust’s and the Childcare Services Dept. policies and procedures
• To work towards and contribute to a quality assurance scheme
• To attend parents’ evenings to provide parents with their child’s progress and developmental files and discuss any issues they feel relevant with full support from qualified early years practitioners when required
• To attend and contribute to staff meetings on a regular basis
• To maintain professional relationships, build on team work and share ideas
• To promote equal opportunitiesand follow the Valuing Diversity and Promoting Equality policywithin the setting and ensure that a culturally sensitive environment is maintained
• To adhere to the settings dress code at all times
• To attend staff appraisals where performing and training needs are monitored
• To be aware of data protection and the importance of confidentiality
