Specifically, the incumbent will obtain, verify and analyze incident information including location, reporting party contact information, nature and severity of the incident while applying effective communication skills to control the call via telephone and/or radio.
• Apply knowledge of geography, resource availability and accessibility, and agency specific systems to dispatch appropriate resources to an incident.
• Accurately document (in real time) incident information including, but not limited to reporting party contact information, incident details, changes in severity or conditions, responder status and call priority. Information is documented in a computer automated dispatch system (CAD).

• Operates and performs operator maintenance on one or more motor vehicles including pickup trucks, panel trucks, sedans, and crew cab pickup trucks.
• Vehicles are driven at highway speeds to transport supplies, materials, or equipment and tools to their destinations throughout rural or urban areas on park and/or public roads in a full range of traffic conditions (or the equivalent).

Major Duties include:

• Involves construction, alterations, installation, repair, and modification of items and structures such as roofing, framework, rafters, concrete forms, walls, doors, finished paneling, window frames, interior and exterior trims, staircases, trusses, beams, flooring, and miscellaneous items such as workbenches, countertops, bookcases, equipment cabinets, and computer consoles where accuracy, spacing, and fit are essential and structural soundness and appearance are important.- Constructs, rehabilitates, modifies, and assembles from blueprints, sketches, and verbal instructions, structures such as framework, rafters, doors, finished paneling, windows, interior and exterior trims, staircases, trusses and beams, small buildings, building interior finishing, etc., where accuracy and spacing are essential and require journeyman level skills and abilities.

• Performs various log replacement and repair techniques which involve splicing and notching of logs using hand tools and power tools such as draw knife, slick, chisels, gouges, adze, hatchet, ax, chainsaw, grinder, scribes, beetle, and drills. Makes sure that all repairs or replacements are done in accordance with the Secretary of the Interiors Standards for Treatment of Historic Properties.

Duties include but are not limited to:

• Performs regular wilderness and backcountry patrols as a trainee or under the direction of other wilderness rangers ranging from day trips to multi-day overnight camping trips, via foot. Routine backcountry patrol duties and responsibilities include: collecting inventory and monitoring data and evaluations, patrol reports, visitor contacts, routine trail maintenance, and inspection, inventory, and repair of backcountry facilities (campgrounds, pit toilets, and patrol cabins). Incumbent will be expected to assist with search and rescue (SAR) operations and perform emergency medical services (EMS) as needed.
• Assisting other wilderness rangers as a trainee with various projects in the backcountry in each district as needs arise. Examples would include evaluation and rehabilitation of campsite facilities, pit toilets, and/or trail infrastructure. Other duties include vegetation monitoring, wilderness character monitoring, campsite evaluations, and backcountry resource impacts.
• Assisting with field implementation of the Wilderness Implementation Schedule (WIS) as a student trainee, which are the strategies for managing the wilderness and backcountry park wide. Assist with wilderness character monitoring using Glacier's wilderness character monitoring format.
• As a trainee monitoring bear activity and participating in bear management training and entering data into the Bear Management Inventory and Monitoring System (BIMS). May also participate in other park training in EMS, SAR, and Backcountry Operations as a trainee.
• Become trained in Leave No Trace outdoor ethics and be able to demonstrate and explain to visitors.

Major duties for this position include but are not to:

• Serves as VIP initial contact point and supervisor of wilderness volunteers, river volunteers, preventative search and rescue volunteers (PSAR), and bike volunteers.

Major Duties Include:

• Operate trucks and various types of heavy equipment including but not limited to; loaders and skid steers, dump trucks, garbage and sewer pumper trucks. Perform preventative maintenance and minor repairs on trucks and equipment.

Initiates or assists with development or revision of interpretive materials, such as brochures, guidebooks, handouts, exhibits, and social media.
• Collaborates with partners and stakeholders, such as state and local agencies, nonprofit organizations, and community groups, to advance the mission of the park and to promote public awareness and support for its programs and resources.
• Engage the public through presenting a series of formal structured programs (e.g., walks, talks, tours, presentations, demonstrations, events, and virtual interactions) and informal contacts/conversations with the public. Create, facilitate, and support opportunities for audiences to understand national significance and personal relevance through intellectual and emotional connections to resource meanings and their current context.
• Coordinate the operation of a visitor facility and/or information desk; develop daily work schedules that include tours of duty and location of assignments for the supervisor's approval.
• Assist in helping others learn through formal or informal methods; train, mentor, coach, and evaluate interpretive programs and products conducted by lower-level interpreters, critique these activities, and recommend individual or program improvements.
