The INSEAD’s Stone Centre for the Study of Wealth Inequality, in combination with the Economics and Political Science area, invites applications for a full time Pre-Doctoral Researcher to work as a Research Associate (Area Researcher) on INSEAD’s Singapore campus.

The role involves working with Professors Pushan Dutt and Lin Tian on various projects related to inequality, broadly defined. The ideal candidate should have strong data management and data analyses skills, particularly software packages such as STATA, R, Matlab and Python. Skills in STATA are especially valuable.

The position is ideal for a recent university or Masters graduate looking to develop their research skills in economics in view of applying for a PhD programme. It will provide the candidate with great preparation for PhD programme entry by training the applicant in doing research, giving him/her access to some PhD training and developing a relationship with potential letter writers.

We are looking for a full-time pre-doctoral student to work as a Research Associate on INSEAD’s Asia campus. This position is ideal for recent Master’s graduates looking to develop their research skills, with a view of applying to a PhD program. We are looking for someone who is good at managing data and in particular using software packages such as Stata, Python, and R. Ideally, they would also have experience working on a research project in the social sciences. The Research Associate (RA) core mission is to assist the school’s faculty in conducting research.

The position is for one year, with the possibility of renewal at the end of the first year upon evaluation. It is a full-time position.

We are particularly interested in candidates that possess a strong technical background, with demonstrated expertise in handling data and knowledge in at least some of the following disciplines: econometrics, statistics, machine learning/AI, mathematical optimization, operations research.

The successful candidates will be involved in various research projects and support our Faculty in Economics & Political Science (EPS), Accounting (ACC), Decision Sciences (DSC), Entrepreneurship and Family Enterprise (EFE), Finance (FIN), Marketing (MKT), Organisational Behaviour (OB), Strategy (STR), and Technology & Operations Management (TOM).

The RA will have the opportunity to interact with the pre-doctoral candidates/research staff from other areas, attend a number of workshops/seminars and work in multiple areas.

TASKS:

· Assist with quantitative research projects

· Data management and programming using software packages such as Stata, SAS, R, and Python.

· Conduct statistical data analysis and assist with the interpretation, write-up, and dissemination of findings.

· Conduct academic literature search and review.

· Design and conduct experiments

OUR IDEAL CANDIDATE

· Evidence of outstanding academic achievements, strong quantitative or qualitative background is essential. Research work samples are a plus.

· You are proficient in using research tools & packages such as R, Python, Matlab, SAS, Stata, SPSS, etc. and in econometrics, interviewing and text analysis survey construction and qualitative methodologies.

· You can work independently, manage timelines and delivery expectations from Faculty.

· Exercise independent decision making with regards to the progression of research projects and methodologies.

This is a temporary full time position with INSEAD's Global Accounts Payable team. Key Responsibilities include:

1. Scan invoices and ensure invoice process accurately and within the timeline.

2. Attend to supplier/ vendors queries pertaining to payment and/or invoice issue if any.

3. Direct and ensure that the coding of expenditures is accurate and complete before posting to ledger.

4. Verify payment to suppliers/ staff.

5. Prepare various schedules including cash-in-advance, Supplier/Vendors Contract List and other reconciliation schedules.

6. Assist in the verification and follow up of vendors’ bank details to prepare wire instructions for foreign payments.

7. Review and process the employee expense reimbursement (including department purchase card) and ensure they are processed per company policy.

8. Assist supervisor for the monthly closing activities.

Ideal Profile:

• Junior level accountant preferably with 1-2 years of AP experience. Someone willing to learn on the job and gain AP/ Finance experience.
• Diploma holders with Accounting specialisation preferred.
• Ideal for candidates with prior experience using Oracle and/or Concur.
