Under the supervision of our specialist Independent Prescribing Pharmacists, you will work closely with consultants, other medical staff, nurses and pharmacy staff in ensuring that medicine use is safe, rational, effective and evidence based

The post holder will provide a clinical pharmacy service to a group of wards on a rotational basis and support the dispensary in providing an efficient and timely service. The applicant will also need to join the department weekend and on-call service on a rota basis following a period of orientation and induction. The successful candidate will be a Practice Supervisor for Trainee Pharmacists and Pharmacy undergraduates.

4 days each week will be work based gaining the vocational experience and completing competencies required to complete the Level 3 diploma. 1 day per week will be given to learn the knowledge required to underpin this diploma. Your training will involve working with an assessor to develop a work-based portfolio, undertaking work-based assessments, and completing all assignments/projects.

Trainees who successfully complete the training programme, an e-portfolio and the end point assessment (EPA) will be eligible to register with the GPhC and practice as a Registered Pharmacy Technician.

The successful candidate will be expected to contribute to service delivery at either site on a flexible working basis which will include weekends and evenings. You will remain under supervision for the duration of the training period but may earn a degree of autonomy determined by the supervisor and successful completion of assessment or competency standards to undertake specific tasks.

The overall purpose of the role is to ensure that the Trust has a robust training programme and assurance around the use of high-risk medical devices and to be the main expert resource in this area. This includes working effectively with clinical leads and the MDSO to respond to National Patient Safety Alerts where high risk medical device knowledge is required.

Incident investigation and supporting the Patient Safety and Incident Response Framework (PSIRF) Education plan are key components of the role is a key component of the role promotinglearning and the safe use of medical devices across our Trust sites.

Key duties and responsibilities

1. Establish, maintain and monitor an effective training needs analysis, policy and programme for the competency and use of high-risk medical devices,

2. Devise and deliver an annual programme of work including audits and be responsible for developing and meeting performance indicators,

3. Manage and deliver specialist training to groups of staff for high-risk Medical Devices and Oxygen across the Trust sites,

4. Provide clear and concise quarterly and annual quality assurance reports on training compliance, risks and incidents in relation to high-risk medical devices,

5. Ensure medical device incidents are reported in line with Patient Safety Incident Response Framework (PSIRF) and Learning from Patient Safety Events (LFPSE),

6. Review incidents relating to medical devices providing recommendations and expert advice,

7. Provide authoritative and reliable advice in supporting healthcare staff in the safe use of high-risk medical devices,

8. Develop and maintain working relationships with the Practice Educator network to ensure consistent delivery of training,

9. Work with the head of clinical engineering and clinical and procurement teams advising on the acquisition of high-risk medical devices,

10. Monitor trials of high-risk medical devices,

An opportunity has arisen for the post of Assistant Sleep Technologist. We are currently looking for enthusiastic, hard working individual to join this friendly busy team. You will receive training in setting up the equipment for diagnostic testing and therapy sessions including Oximetry Studies.

Most of the practical training will be given in the department and will include Respiratory Sleep Studies, Continuous Positive Airways Pressure ventilation (CPAP), Paediatric Oximetry studies and mask fitting. You will be trained to participate in Follow-up clinics for patients on therapy and you will be required to attend various workshop sessions and other courses to obtain certificates of competence.

You may be required to participate in night shift if required, although this has not been implemented at the present time.

This is an opportunity to work in the fascinating area of Sleep Medicine and be part of a growing and important vocational profession, within the NHS.

The Virtual Ward model allows patients with chronic respiratory conditions, such as COPD or asthma, to receive acute care from the comfort of their own homes, avoiding hospital admission and enabling them to manage their condition with the support of an established multi-disciplinary team offering both in-person and remote visits. You will also play a critical role in supporting patients with early discharge, providing clinical expertise, and ensuring continuity of care in the community.

We are looking for a compassionate and adaptable professional who thrives in a fast-paced, technology-enhanced care environment. You will need excellent clinical skills, a strong understanding of respiratory conditions, and the ability to work autonomously while being part of a multidisciplinary team.

Key Responsibilities:
• Provide specialist assessment and care for patients with respiratory conditions, including COPD, asthma, bronchiectasis, and interstitial lung disease, within the Virtual Ward setting.
• Work with Virtual Ward hub team who monitor patients remotely using telehealth systems, and clinical assessments, ensuring early recognition of deterioration and timely interventions.
• Utilise point-of-care testing to support clinical decision making.
• Develop and implement individualised care plans in collaboration with the wider multidisciplinary team, including consultants, GPs, and other community services.
• Deliver specialist advice, education, and support to patients and their families, empowering them to manage their conditions at home.
• Work closely with the Virtual Ward team to review and monitor patient progress, adjusting care plans as necessary.
• Participate in the training and development of colleagues, promoting best practices in respiratory care and virtual ward delivery.
• Ensure compliance with clinical governance, patient safety protocols, and quality assurance processes.
