.Visiting job sites to analyze space availability, design needs and the purpose of the space

• Attending client meetings to understand the design needs and client preferences regarding interior styles and colors

• Creating initial design sketches, color themes and ideas based on client requirements and space availability

• Getting approval from the client before creating CAD designs and detailed briefs for workers and supervisors

• Hiring contractors and vendors to implement design ideas, such as Carpenters, Painters, Plumbers, Electricians and Artists

• Overseeing the buying process of all raw materials and items required to complete the project

• Arranging client visits and keeping everyone involved in the project appraised of its progress

• Ensuring project completion within the allocated budget and timeline

Handle site safety, paperworks and site condition

Manage external sub contractors to do works as per drawings

Liaise with drafters to churn out shop drawings

Ensure accuracy

Internally manage own workers of the following trade

- Bricklaying- Plastering- Tiling- Screeding- Waterproofing- Painting

- Structural works, rebar and steel

- Formworks for structure

- Electrical works

- Plumbing works

- Ceiling and partition Works

- Carpentry

- Parquet and decking

Quantity surveyors monitor ongoing construction projects and ensure they are completed within the projected budget and schedule. They work closely with project managers, architects, engineers, contractors and other stakeholders to ensure a project is cost-effective and meets quality standards.

A quantity surveyor will typically need to:

• work alongside clients to establish their requirements
• undertake feasibility studies to ensure a proposal will work
• estimate material quantities, costs, labour and time
• prepare tender and contract documents – this can include bills of quantities with the client and architect
• perform risk and value management, and cost control, during a project
• undertake cost analysis for repair and maintenance work
• negotiate contracts and work schedules
• assign work to subcontractors – overseeing their work at all stages
• value completed work and arranging payments
• ensure projects meet legal and quality standards
• make sure clients get value for money on the project
• continually analyse outcomes and write budget reports, and
• advise on contractual claims and disputes.

Key tasks include:

• supervising and overseeing the direction of the project (or a package), ensuring that the client’s specifications and requirements are met, reviewing progress and liaising with quantity surveyors to monitor costs
• liaising with the client, other construction professionals and, sometimes, members of the public
• coordinating and supervising construction workers
• selecting tools and materials
• making safety inspections and ensuring construction and site safety
• checking and preparing site reports, designs and drawings
• maintaining quality control procedures
• finding ways to prevent problems from happening and to solve any that crop up
• assessing and minimising risk
• writing reports and keeping on top of paperwork
• helping to negotiating contracts and securing permits and licences.
