The Opportunity:

The Projects & Energy Transition team in Singapore are looking for a lawyer with at least 4 years' legal experience. The opportunity is to perform the role of lead non-partner advising on the financing arrangements for these major transactions, with support and supervision from the relevant partner(s), and gain exceptional experience.

Our preferred candidate should have significant experience working on the entire suite of financing documentation for large scale financings in the energy (and particularly power and LNG) and infrastructure space which have been structured as a project financing, as well as significant transaction management experience and organisational skills.

In this role, you will:

• Have day to day responsibility for matters, with extensive direct client contact and contact with local counsel.

Department / Role overview

Working as part of our Global Risk & Compliance Department, the Conflicts &

Ethics Team is responsible for analysing all new clients and matters to identify and resolve legal and commercial "conflicts of interest".

The role is ideally suited to an individual with a clear and confident communication style, and a desire to work collaboratively with a dynamic and motivated team. The successful candidate will have a keen eye for detail and an interest in current affairs. A legal qualification is not essential, but problem solving and professionalism are key. You will work alongside colleagues from Glasgow, London, Perth and Sydney, to provide conflicts clearance as our partners and clients pursue the most exciting deals across the globe.

Main responsibilities

• Develop and maintain knowledge ofthe rules of professional conduct applicable across the countries in which Ashurst lawyers practise
• Use your research skills to identify and verify clients, third parties and assets involved in new business requests
• Develop and apply your understanding of legal transactions to determine the relationships between parties involved in a particular matter; and if in doubt, liaise with the partners and lawyers
• Analyse information in the firm’s conflict management systems and other databases to identify any potential conflicts of interest
• Work collaboratively with team members and Senior Management to find solutions to potential legal and commercial conflicts
• Record excellent phone notes, legal and commercial analysis to serve as a record of compliance for our insurers, regulators and rm management
• Maintain the highest standards of data quality within the conflicts database.

Other tasks

• Work across function groups (Finance, HR, IT, Business Development) to tackle projects and solve problems
• Take advantage of our continuous professional development opportunities and carefully planned career development
• Assist in preparing and delivering training and other compliance education sessions for the business
• Risk and Control: Ensure that all activitiesand duties are carried out in full compliance with our regulatory requirements and internal policies

Essential skills and experience

• Prior experience within Risk & Compliance ideally within a professional services/corporate environment
• An interest in the work undertaken bya corporate multinational firm
• A desire to understand the business and work closely as a team to solve problems
• Strong organisational skills, attention to detail and able to work well under pressure
• Strong IT literacy and the ability to adapt to new processes and technology quickly
• Strong interpersonal skills required to engage all levels of legal and support staff
• The discretion required to maintain confidential information appropriately

• Good judgement and business awareness
• Use of legal, business search engines and databases

Overview of the role

• We are seeking a bright individual to support our Global Loans and Global Markets practice immediately.
• You will assist on legal research work, drafting, and other ad-hoc and legal adminstrative tasks assigned.
• This is a 3-month contract (renewable subject to business needs and performance) and we will require the individual to commit to the full contractual duration.

Qualifications

• LL.B Hons degree or equivalent experience.
• Experience in legal assistance.
• Familiarity with law, legal procedures, and protocols.

Essential skills

• Ability to multitask to complete all matters punctually.
• Strong command of English (written and spoken).
• Excellent interpersonal, written (grammar, spelling, format) and verbal communication skills.
• Demonstrated problem solving skills.
• High degree of proficiency in Microsoft Word and Outlook, with knowledge of Excel and PowerPoint.
• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Strong analytical and reasoning abilities.
