Team overview:
In Singapore, our dispute resolution team acts for some of the world’s leading companies in disputes arising from major projects across the Asia-Pacific.
We have specialist expertise in international commercial arbitration and have represented clients in arbitrations under most of the major arbitration rules. Our experience of, among others, the Singapore International Arbitration Centre (SIAC), International Chamber of Commerce (ICC) and United Nations Commission on International Trade Law (UNCITRAL) arbitral processes is considerable. Some members of our wider group sit as arbitrators, which enables us to provide clients with insight into how arbitral tribunals operate.
Job overview:
We are currently looking for a qualified associate to join our Dispute Resolution team in the Singapore office. With an international and cross-border focus, the work scope will focus on general international arbitration arising from a broad range of commercial disputes across a range of sectors such as the construction, infrastructure and energy sectors.
Main tasks will involve:
- Review of legal documents and agreements
- Advising clients and preparing formal legal opinions
- Assisting in the drafting of pleadings and submissions
- Document review and analysis
- Assisting with the procedural aspects of arbitrations
- Review and drafting of arbitration agreements and other dispute related documents (including settlement agreements)
- Assisting with preparations for, and attending, hearings
- Contributing to department know-how
- Assisting with business development efforts, including drafting articles and giving presentations
Essential skills and experience:
- Post qualification experience in international arbitration with a reputable international law firm
- Qualified in England & Wales / Australia
- 1 to 5 years post qualification experience
- Experience from a leading global law firm of disputes arising from significant cross-border transactions and/or major construction, infrastructure and energy projects
- Interested and motivated in disputes work
- Strong academic background
- Enthusiastic personality who likes to work in a team
