What is the Role

SSEN Transmission has a fantastic opportunity for Business Assurance Manager to join our Risk & Assurance team. The Risk & Assurance team in SSEN Transmission proactively identify and assess enterprise risk and controls to deliver strategic priorities and ensure compliance with legal and regulatory obligations through coordinated assurance activities.

The main purpose of the role is to provide assurance to the Transmission Executive Committee (TEC) that governance arrangements and business control environments are effective. This is achieved through the identification, approval and delivery of assurance activity and controls testing ensuring business and regulatory compliance is maintained. The job holder will work closely with Transmission leaders and their extended teams to provide internal assurance that processes and procedures are effective to manage their respective business areas and compliance obligations ensuring they meet governance arrangements in relation to legislative and regulatory requirements.

To do this, the job holder will work closely with external auditors, internal audit functions, department leads and subject matter experts to support the four lines of defence model ensuring that the Transmission business operates in a complaint manner through, auditing, risk identification and adherence to regulatory requirements. The role holder will take a substantive role in the annual MD Letter of Assurance process and integrated group assurance programme (IGAP).

The key duties & responsibilities include:

- Effectively scoping, planning and delivering assurance assessments throughout the business, engaging with relevant stakeholders on a risk-based approach to identify areas of concern and therefore reducing risk exposure and enhancing opportunities, capturing these in clear, concise and actionable outputs.

- Developing and delivering regular monitoring of critical business processes to assure on-going effective controls are in place and obligations met, using effective analysis and reporting of relevant data to follow-up on areas of non-conformance with stakeholders.

- Undertaking consultancy or advisory type assignments with business stakeholders, providing guidance on matters such as effective risk management, compliance best practice or obligation applicability.

- Working collaboratively with other members of the Risk & Assurance team and business stakeholders to identify the most effective means to deliver identified improvements, contributing to the delivery of these enhancements and providing regular updates on progress against the agreed schedule.

- Supporting the Senior Risk & Assurance Manager through the identification and provision of the annual assurance prioritisation programme and timely reporting metrics.

What do I need?

To be considered for this role, we would love you to have;

- Significant experience in a similar assurance role, ideally within a regulated environment with an auditing, accounting and/or other relevant compliance or assurance qualification.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

- To set up, embed and maintain the portfolio governance for the EGL projects; ensuring appropriate governance forums, change and decision control processes are established in line as closely as possible with the SSE Large Capital Project (LCP/LCP+) governance framework; and continuous review of Joint Venture Shareholder and Managed Service Agreements to ensure obligations are met.

A 'day in the life' of a Business Development Executive
Build a territory plan each quarter to maximise new sales opportunities
Using LinkedIn Sales Navigator, and researching your customer and their market, you will identify key decision makers to approach, with insights, to discuss and grow the QA product footprint
Identify and understand needs and build a value proposition
Prepare quotes and proposals for customers
Generate revenue and margin to meet individual and team targets

As OT Cyber Assurance Auditor, you will focus on OT cyber security within the Transmission business, including broader IT elements supporting a net zero network. You will deliver risk-based cyber audits for Transmission's projects and operational assets, ensuring compliance with NIS-Regulations across security improvement programmes, strategic projects, and large-scale projects. You will interface with various business areas, including Group functions and other regulated areas, providing assurance to the Group level, Transmission Executive Committee, and Security Working Group on OT cyber security risk management. Audits typically range from 20-40 days, with ongoing support for key Transmission change programs. Your role will be instrumental in driving change where cyber risks impact the business.

This position is ideal if you have experience in OT, preferably within the electricity networks environment, and cyber security, and are looking to expand your knowledge in these areas. As OT Cyber Assurance Auditor, you will:

- Understand the Business and Impact of OT Cyber Risk - You'll build trusted relationships with the business, IT, OT, and Cyber Risk teams to gain a deep understanding of key processes, operations, and the strategic changes impacting the OT cyber risk profile.

- Balance Robust and Pragmatic Cyber Assurance and Advice - You'll use insights from your relationships across the group to support the scoping, delivery, and reporting of assurance via audit. You'll provide practical risk and assurance advice that considers business risk, impact, and current cyber security maturity.

- Prepare Reports, Communicate Results, and Agree Actions - You'll regularly report to management at all levels, prepare draft reports for review, discuss findings with management, and agree on actionable and proportionate responses with clear responsibilities and due dates.

- Ensure Actions Are Completed - You'll conduct follow-up activities to ensure agreed audit actions are completed as per the audit reports, documenting any changes clearly.

- Engage with Relevant Transmission Programmes - You'll collaborate with key Transmission cyber security programs to provide real-time assurance of these initiatives.

To be considered for this role, we would love you to have:

- Demonstrable experience with OT security frameworks and best practices - IEC 62433, NIST 800-82, NIST CSF, IEC 61580.

- A good understanding of OT systems within the electricity network sector.

- Ability to carry out security risk assessment or threat modelling of system architecture.

- Experience of writing reports for a wide range of stakeholders, including senior non-technical stakeholders.

- Hold or working towards holding a cyber security certification (e.g. GICSP, CISSP, CISA, CISM, CCSP).

What is the role?

Risk Management within Transmission IT is an extremely exciting area, responsible for the identification, management, and remediation of conventional IT risks within both IT enterprise environments along with risks pertaining to the Transmission Operational Technology, OT, network.

To grow the Risk Management function, we are looking for 2 x Governance, Risk and Compliance Analysts to join the team. These roles will report into the IT Risk Manager and will be involved across the while end to end risk process.

Key responsibilities for these roles will include:

- Provide 1st line risk management support by operating, managing, and maintaining the Operational Risk Register, and providing updates to senior stakeholders, Transmission 2nd line Risk Team and Group Risk & Audit.

- Assist in the implementation of a control framework across IT and OT domains.

- Perform tasks to plan, schedule, track, monitor and manage issues related to audit, compliance and risk assessments of the control framework.

- Assist in the creation of risk reports to effectively convey outputs of risk and control assessments to senior management, highlighting controls weaknesses / deficiencies, the evolving threat landscape, horizon / emerging risks, and much more.

- Work closely and collaboratively with key stakeholders across Transmission.

What do I need?

To be considered for these roles, we would love you to have:

- Prior experience in security risk / controls assessments and ideally you will have experience with operating risk registers and/or GRC tooling.

- Knowledge on common security management frameworks would be beneficial; for example, ISO / IEC 27001/2 Standards, ITIL, NIST Cybersecurity Framework, NCSC CAF, MITRE ATT&CK framework, etc.

- Collaborative skills with the ability to work across disciplines and with colleagues ensuring collective accountability and individual responsibility for task ownership.

- Strong reporting and presentational skills.

- Relevant University Degree or Certification (e.g., CompTIA Security+, CRISC, CISA, CISM, etc.) would be advantageous.

- Although a current lead assessor qualification in ISO 9001 is advantageous, we can provide the successful candidate with the training and support needed to achieve this.

- It is an essential requirement for this role that you have a full, current driving licence. There will be a requirement to travel to site and supplier visits as required.
