The successful candidates will be a ‘generalist with a special interest model’ of placing ward based acute and sub-acute ward based general internal medicine as a core function while maintaining a specialty interest. The candidate will be welcomed into a well organised department providing a wide range of services in ward based General Internal Medicine and specialty and sub-specialty level services in Diabetes and Endocrinology. As Director of the Acquisitions Division the incumbent will be responsible for providing the day-to-day management, planning, leadership and oversight of a full range of acquisitions and contract administration activities.The incumbent will provide managerial leadership, technical direction and oversight for OIG Acquisitions Division as follows:

Serves as Program Manager and functions as a program expert to assist with assigning and conducting analytic tasks, allocating resources and staff time; preparing and managing budgets and budget-related reporting activities; managing procurement, contracting, and business functions; providing program and analytical expertise; presenting analytic findings and results to OIG and OMP management and external customers; and assisting the Deputy Inspector General (DIG) with broad level administration and planning. The incumbent may be required to serve as affiant in adjudicated case work as well as authority on programmatic methods, techniques and services.

Facilitates and manages assignments of analytic work requested by OIG components and external customers that is performed by staff to assist these agencies in performing HHS and federal oversight activities. The incumbent also may determine the soundness of proposals and initiatives in meeting program objectives and making efficient use of resources; interpret program, policy, contractual, financial planning and analysis information; prepare plans, budgets, comparative studies, performance management and measurement activities; perform other administrative and managerial activities; and identify analytic, policy, and information technology infrastructure issues related to OIG operations of the assigned program. "The major duties of the position include, but are not limited to, the following:

• The Project Specialist is responsible for assisting the Project Manager (PM) in initiating, establishing, guiding, and controlling one or more DSC design/construction projects from inception through completion.

Providing General surgical services to King’s Mill and Newark Hospital with two dedicated inpatient wards at King’s Mill to cover all aspects of General surgery. A Day Case Unit and Surgical Assessment Unit provides 24 hour care for surgical admissions and emergencies. Several dedicated General surgical theatres and an emergency theatre shared with other surgical specialties.

We are a committed and enthusiastic department with Consultants providing surgical cover and a special interest, as well as general surgery. The General surgical Consultants have good working relationships with Gastroenterology Consultants and surgical colleagues at the regional gastro-oesophageal and hepatobiliary/pancreatic cancer (Nottingham University Hospitals) centres and colorectal surgery at NUH.

The spectrum of benign UGI/HPB is mostly biliary and anti-reflux related. We have strong links with the regional tertiary referral UGI and HPB units in Nottingham with regular clinics and joint multidisciplinary meetings. We have a local ERCP and EUS service run by Gastroenterology.

This appointment supports the expansion of our surgical same day admission unit, with a plan for this to be extended beyond an initial 6 months. The applicant will be fully integrated in to the unit with active involvement in the on call rota (currently 1 in 10 but expected to increase with this role.) Involvement in the hot cholecystectomy service is advantageous and endoscopic/advanced laparoscopic skills are welcomed.
