The Education Director will provide visionary and strategic leadership of Trust wide Education, Training and Learning across the Birmingham Community Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust (BCHC). The role of Specialty Training Programme Director for Old Age Psychiatry within the Severn School will work with and support the Head of School for Psychiatry in leading the delivery of a wide range of functions, aligned to the NHS England (and legacy HEE) mandate and long-term workforce plan.

The rolewill focus upon improvement of learner supervision, assessment and experience, engagement of faculty and ensuring effective educational outcomes, both now and in the future.

This is a senior educator position appointed on a secondment basis. The contract is for 3 years, extendable for a further 2 years.

The Role:

Qualifications and Experience:

• Experience of being a high performing primary headteacher including leadership in challenging educational contexts.
• Extensive experience of Trust wide leadership including working with external stakeholders’ regulatory bodies and special schools
• Experience an OI or HMI
• Proven successful mentoring / coaching of colleagues
• Knowledge of curriculum development across multiple schools, including primary and special schools

Skills:

• Ability to support headteachers in delivering consistent high standards
• Strong leadership skills and ability to empower, motivate and create a positive working environment
• Ability to see the big picture as well as focus on what needs to be done
