• Provides psychological assessment and diagnostic services for Veterans with a broad range of psychopathology receiving care within the Primary Care Mental Health Integration program, including services for patients with complex psychopathology requiring advanced psycho-diagnostic skills.

This full-time position is the DACOS DIS (MD or DO) will cover both campuses John Cochran and Jefferson Barracks, with both clinical and administrative roles. As a leader of DIS, the DACOS DIS shares responsibility for the overall operation of DIS with the ACOS DIS and works under the direction of the ACOS DIS. The mission of DIS is to provide a continuum of quality radiology care to our Veterans. He/she shares the oversight of the clinical and administrative aspects of DIS with the ACOS DIS including budget and fiscal management, human resource management, strategic planning, and program development, assuring that the clinical and administrative functions are integrated to provide optimum utilization of the available resources. He/she ensures the quality and timeliness of the services provided, customer satisfaction, as well as compliance with standards of accrediting bodies such as the Joint Commission and the Inspector General's Combined Assessment Program. He/she ensures appropriate use of available resources and is responsible for inspiring, motivating, and guiding DIS staff in achieving the strategic goals and plans of the service. He/she collaborates with other ACOSs, DACOSs, and program managers, in fulfilling his/her responsibilities.

The DACOS DIS will also function as a radiology doctor. He/she will be responsible for the overall medical care of patients with conditions requiring diagnostic and therapeutic imaging treatments to include consultative, prescriptive, and ordering authority in both the outpatient and inpatient settings within VA St. Louis Health Care System (VASTLHCS). He/she is to ensure the quality and timeliness of the services provided and collaborate with referring providers.

Major duties include:

• Performs a variety of analytical activities to evaluate, develop, advise, and promote improvement in station managerial and personnel policies, practices, methods, procedures, and organizational structures. Analyzes and evaluates administrative internal control systems to assess compliance with agency directives and effectiveness in identifying possible fraud, waste, or mismanagement.
• Participates in discussions, meetings, conferences and conference calls with agency administrators, senior subject matter and technical personnel, and other federal agency officials to secure and provide information, to investigate facts; present conclusions, recommendations, and alternatives; obtain concurrence; develop alternate courses of actions; and mutually resolve problems.
• Advises management of unique conditions and issues which affect administrative activities and provides guidance on interpretation and implementation of new and revised legislation, policies, regulations, and procedures.
• Serves as a liaison between VBA District Offices and the RO, coordinating and facilitating initiatives that require team cooperation and action.

• Studies areas requiring new or substantially modified work methods, procedures and systems necessitated by changes in mission, staffing levels to improve productivity, quality, and timeliness. Incumbent must have knowledge of all aspects of Regional Office (RO) management, enough to advise the VSCM, AVSCMs, and other station leadership on operations and serves as a consultant. Coordinates and prepares responses to Central Office requests for Field Station input such as workload projections, equipment requirements, staffing needs, and suggested improvements to procedures.
• Assists with plans and schedules for ongoing production-oriented work on a quarterly and annual basis and directs assignments of similar duration. Adjusts staffing levels or work procedures within the organizational unit to accommodate resource allocation decisions made at higher echelons. Justifies the purchase of supplies and new equipment. Improves work methods and procedures used to produce work products. Oversees the development of technical data, estimates, statistics, suggestions, and other information useful to higher level managers in determining which goals and objectives to emphasize. Major duties include, but are not limited to:

• The Supervisory Medical Support Assistant (MSA) position serves as the direct line supervisor for all administrative care coordination assigned PSA and MSA staff which includes at least one Lead MSA and is responsible for the daily oversight of the area in which they are assigned, providing direct supervision, guidance, and leadership. This team may include various MSA or PSA levels ranging from GS-3 through GS-7 levels. The Supervisory Medical Support Assistant is a foundational resource in providing technical counsel to meet procedural, legal, and administrative requirements relating to the care and treatment of patients, thus achieving maximum utilization of this medical center's resources and within the Community Care Transformation Model. Care is delivered in a team-based model which includes Registered Nurses, and MSA's. Community Care arranges all care outside the St. Cloud VA Medical Center for Veterans. Community Care works collaboratively with other members of an expanded healthcare team including pharmacists, social workers, dietitians, and all Clinical Service Lines to provide a robust interdisciplinary approach to care. Important interfaces and collaborations also occur with larger health care system providers including VA and Non-VA specialists, hospitals, diagnostic and treating facilities, and community bases programs.
• The Supervisory MSA plans and completes advance level tasks based on observance of protocols and accepted clinical practices while exercising full supervisory responsibility over subordinate staff that includes at least one subordinate team leader or subordinate supervisor. The Supervisory MSA handles directly or delegates responsibilities for resolutions of problems or unusual situations and makes decisions on appropriate action to be taken. The Supervisory MSA's work is reviewed on an overall basis by the Service Chief for conformity with VHA Directive and Medical Center policies and procedures. The Supervisory (Medical Support Assistant) MSA has thorough knowledge of VHA Directives for: VHA Outpatient Scheduling Processes and Procedures, Knowledge of VA regulations, Systems Redesign Principles, local Medical Center Memorandum/policies, and standard operating procedures. This position provides supervisory medical administrative support and, is an integral member of Community Care leadership to effectively carry out day to day administrative operations of Community Care. The Supervisory MSA has knowledge of eligibility for VA medical care, priorities for care, release of information, health Information Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) Law. The Supervisory MSA must be conscientious regarding the confidentiality of the variety of material that will be handled. Major Duties Include:

• Collects daily snow, avalanche, and weather observations from avalanche paths affecting Glacier National Park roads. Records snow, avalanche, and weather observations in database/computer files.
• Evaluates National Weather Service and Natural Resource Conservation Service products and data from automated mountain weather stations for inclusion in the avalanche forecasts.
• Conducts field snow stability tests and observations, and in conjunction with other observations from field personnel, uses own judgement to independently interpret and evaluate snow stability. Issues daily avalanche hazard forecasts and warnings, which are distributed via email and briefings to park personnel.
• Using their own judgement and experience, the incumbent determines when avalanche conditions have changed sufficiently to recommend a change in existing avalanche hazard ratings.
• Serves as an avalanche spotter/ guard for snow removal crews, and in the event of an avalanche accident, acts as first responder for rescues.
