This full-time position is the DACOS DIS (MD or DO) will cover both campuses John Cochran and Jefferson Barracks, with both clinical and administrative roles. As a leader of DIS, the DACOS DIS shares responsibility for the overall operation of DIS with the ACOS DIS and works under the direction of the ACOS DIS. The mission of DIS is to provide a continuum of quality radiology care to our Veterans. He/she shares the oversight of the clinical and administrative aspects of DIS with the ACOS DIS including budget and fiscal management, human resource management, strategic planning, and program development, assuring that the clinical and administrative functions are integrated to provide optimum utilization of the available resources. He/she ensures the quality and timeliness of the services provided, customer satisfaction, as well as compliance with standards of accrediting bodies such as the Joint Commission and the Inspector General's Combined Assessment Program. He/she ensures appropriate use of available resources and is responsible for inspiring, motivating, and guiding DIS staff in achieving the strategic goals and plans of the service. He/she collaborates with other ACOSs, DACOSs, and program managers, in fulfilling his/her responsibilities.

The DACOS DIS will also function as a radiology doctor. Major duties include:

• Performs a variety of analytical activities to evaluate, develop, advise, and promote improvement in station managerial and personnel policies, practices, methods, procedures, and organizational structures. Researches, provides interpretation, information, and advice on policies and procedures to the VSCM and AVSCM. Analyzes and evaluates administrative internal control systems to assess compliance with agency directives and effectiveness in identifying possible fraud, waste, or mismanagement.
• Participates in discussions, meetings, conferences and conference calls with agency administrators, senior subject matter and technical personnel, and other federal agency officials to secure and provide information, to investigate facts; present conclusions, recommendations, and alternatives; obtain concurrence; develop alternate courses of actions; and mutually resolve problems.
• Advises management of unique conditions and issues which affect administrative activities and provides guidance on interpretation and implementation of new and revised legislation, policies, regulations, and procedures.

• The Supervisory Medical Support Assistant (MSA) position serves as the direct line supervisor for all administrative care coordination assigned PSA and MSA staff which includes at least one Lead MSA and is responsible for the daily oversight of the area in which they are assigned, providing direct supervision, guidance, and leadership. This team may include various MSA or PSA levels ranging from GS-3 through GS-7 levels. The Supervisory Medical Support Assistant is a foundational resource in providing technical counsel to meet procedural, legal, and administrative requirements relating to the care and treatment of patients, thus achieving maximum utilization of this medical center's resources and within the Community Care Transformation Model. Care is delivered in a team-based model which includes Registered Nurses, and MSA's. Community Care arranges all care outside the St. Cloud VA Medical Center for Veterans. Sequence numbers and DLN's to be used when processing returns, FTD's and IRP documents. This requires extensive knowledge of the IRS numbering system as well as knowledge of how SCRIPS assigns numbers. Failure to correctly assign numbers could cause an overflow condition, which results in problems in files, the Federal Records Center and Accounting. Ensures numbers are not skipped and/or duplicated.

Receives work on batch carts from document preparation area. Ensures Forms W-2, correspondence, unnecessary schedules, etc. arc detached from the returns: removes staples and paper clips, and makes necessary repairs.

Prior to beginning a scanner job, reviews SCRIPS breaker transmittal sheets to ensure correct programs will be loaded by the scanner. Scans documents, unloads stacker trays, annotates DIN's on folders, and associates appropriate W-2's with scanned documents.

Reviews error messages on console and independently determines appropriate corrective action.

This position has career progression. If you are selected at a grade level lower than the full working level, you may be non-competitively promoted as your career progresses. The following are the duties of this position at the full working level.

Sequence numbers and DLN's to be used when processing returns, FTD's and IRP documents. This requires extensive knowledge of the IRS numbering system as well as knowledge of how SCRIPS assigns numbers. Failure to correctly assign numbers could cause an overflow condition, which results in problems in files, the Federal Records Center and Accounting. Ensures numbers are not skipped and/or duplicated.

Receives work on batch carts from document preparation area. Ensures Forms W-2, correspondence, unnecessary schedules, etc. arc detached from the returns: removes staples and paper clips, and makes necessary repairs.

Prior to beginning a scanner job, reviews SCRIPS breaker transmittal sheets to ensure correct programs will be loaded by the scanner. Scans documents, unloads stacker trays, annotates DIN's on folders, and associates appropriate W-2's with scanned documents.

Reviews error messages on console and independently determines appropriate corrective action.

This position has career progression. If you are selected at a grade level lower than the full working level, you may be non-competitively promoted as your career progresses. For example, you may be hired as a GS-05, but if the position has career progression to GS-11, then you may move from a GS-05 to a GS-11 in as little as three years.

Lead duties and responsibilities include (but not limited to):

• Leads the activities of the production and service areas
• Reviews daily work assignments and makes adjustments accordingly
• Communicates instructions and information to employees concerning work to be accomplished
• Relays any problems and/or events to supervisors and managers
• Provides on the job training to lower graded food service workers and documents training
• Completes safety and sanitation inspection checks
• Ensures food production and service areas are properly set up
• Performs final check of trays for proper temperature and accuracy as indicated on tray ticket
• Observes work performance of employees and provides feedback to supervisors
• Participates in performance improvement programs and documents quality improvement data
• Performs other related duties as assigned.

• Sets up tray line station with correct supplies and food items
• Serves food, cafeteria style
• Breaks down and cleans assigned station
• Sets up dining room tables for service
• Delivers meal trays to patients' bedside and reports comments and/or complaints to supervisor or dietitian
• Prepares individual and bulk nourishments and supplemental foods/beverages
• Determines the quantities of ingredients needed
• Makes conversions between the metric system to standard system
• Performs heavy duty cleaning tasks throughout food service areas
• Provides assistance to cooks in the food preparation areas
• Performs other related duties as assigned.

Major Duties include but are not limited to:

• Analyze management information requirements, local automated data bases, and corporate data bases and reporting systems in order to provide information to be used in the evaluation and analysis of clinical program effectiveness and efficiency.
• Develop recurring and non-recurring reports that provide data to be used by management in decision making.
• Translating statistics to reflect compensable data for management
• Reviews new agency directives, guidelines, and other publications in order to identify those that have an impact on local policies and processes.
• Communicates required actions with appropriate program officials and monitors the accomplishment of local revision of policy and procedures to ensure timely completion
• Conducts data validation reviews on cost accounting systems such as the Cost Distribution Report and the Decision Support System in order to insure accurate reporting of costs
• Performs management reviews to determine compliance with agency and/or local regulations, policies, procedures, sound management practices and effective utilization of staff.
• Utilizing office automation skills, prepares presentations of information using such applications as Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
• Effective communication both orally and in a variety of written media with all levels of end users, management, and OI&T personnel, internal and external to the facility.
