About the role

The Faculty of Science and Engineering wish to appoint a Senior Technician to provide teaching and research support for the School of Engineering, Computing and Mathematics.

You will work as part of a team under the direction of the School Technical Manager and deliver support in all aspects of Digital Fabrication including laser cutting and 3D printing, and contribution to CAD & CAM delivery within the School. You will need to demonstrate the relevant skills, a suitable amount of work experience and a commitment to the technical delivery/technical education within the technical team. This role will support a broad range of activities including undergraduate projects, teaching, research and outreach activities.

You will be expected to have an NVQ/BTEC level 3/4 or Degree in a relevant subject area or equivalent or substantial appropriate experience in the subject. You must have practical knowledge and experience in digital fabrication with a particular focus on laser cutting and 3D printing, CAD and CAM skills, including the use of software such as SolidWorks, SolidCAM and Fusion360. As this is a heavily student focused role, experience in a student based focused environment would be desirable. A key element of the role will be the day-to-day operation of the DigiFab laboratory, and as such, experience of working in a H&S focused manner is essential and experience of taking responsibility for H&S in a workshop is desirable.

Oakleigh Lodge is a residential care home in Dudley providing support and care for adults with learning disabilities and autism.
What you’ll be doing:
• All aspects of personal care, feeding, cooking, some cleaning and key working.
• You will be required to operate hoists.
• Supporting with activities and interests both within the service and out in the community.
• Epilepsy training will be given.
• Providing person-centered care.
Who you are:
• Experience of 1 year minimum working within the care industry is essential.
• Experience of working with learning disabilities would be preferred but not essential.
• You have the ability and passion to support our residents with high quality personal care and support their needs and will provide person-centered care.
• Diploma 2 and above qualification in Health & Social Care would be preferable or you will be willing to undertake it.

Manage a caseload of patients with varying diagnoses specific to rotational area and or /complex needs, using evidence based/ client centred principles to assess, plan, implement and evaluate interventions in a defined clinical area. Ensure development of junior staff through supervision, training, and annual appraisal. Participate in the planning, development and evaluation of clinical practice & service development within area. Contribute to the maintenance and development of the Trust Physiotherapy service. Take a lead for information management to ensure high quality data which is recorded, evaluated & reported in a timely manner. Be professionally and legally responsible & accountable for all aspects of own work and management of clinical risk within own clinical caseload. Carry a clinical caseload of highly complex patients, providing advanced therapeutic assessment & evaluation. Provide detailed written treatment plans with patient centered goals. To work as an autonomous practitioner and member of the multidisciplinary team, contributing to team discussions and influencing decisions about patient care programs. Carry out treatments, using a broad variety of modalities and clinical reasoning to allow selection of the most appropriate technique. Evaluating, modifying and recording all interventions and outcomes & adapting them to meet the needs of the patient. Assist the team leader/clinical lead in the production and delivery of an annual report specific to clinical area & participate in the delivery of the Physiotherapy business plan.
