This position is located at Joint Force Headquarters - United States Property and Fiscal Office (USPFO) Purchasing and Contracting office or an ANG Base Contracting Office. Knowledge of anatomy and physiology including an in-depth understanding of the functioning of the circulatory and pulmonary systems and the major organs associated with these systems is required. Knowledge of respiratory therapy and all necessary equipment including but not limited to concentrators, mechanical ventilators, CPAP and Bi-level therapy equipment, pulse oximeters, end-tidal CO2 monitors, suction equipment, oxygen delivery systems, conserving devices, airway clearance devices, portable spirometry testing equipment. The incumbent should be prepared to acquire new knowledge and skills, as necessary relevant to the coordination of care for inpatients and outpatients. The incumbent is expected to perform patient, family, and caregiver education as needed. He/she will educate and train new staff, students, and members of the healthcare team. He/she must have expertise in the operation of all respiratory care equipment and be able to select and manipulate the respiratory equipment and therapy to meet patient needs. The therapist is skilled in arterial puncture by utilizing arterial puncture technique with collections via careful anaerobic technique, proper storage of blood until analyzed and utilizing all necessary safeguards to prevent complications from this technique. The therapist performs this duty routinely and without supervision.

The Therapist checks, orders, and maintains an adequate number of supplies needed for the inpatient and outpatient clinic areas. The supplies are to be stocked, assembled and placed in the appropriate areas to maintain a safe, clean work environment.

This position is located in the Joint Force Headquarters (JFHQ) Army National Guard (ARNG) Deputy Chief of Staff for Operations (DCSOPS) G3/5/7 Section. This is an Army National Guard dual status technician position that requires military membership, compatible military skill assignment and classification. The purpose of this position is to serve as a primary staff member in the G3/5/7 with responsibility for force integration and readiness issues.

Clinical Duties:

1. Oversight: Clinically supervises the training of Nephrology fellows, residents, and medical students to provide quality patient-centered patient care in inpatient and outpatient settings. Ensures resident documentation, with required documented of supervision of all care by the attending physician, is completed in a timely manner per facility bylaws.
2. Examinations: Evaluates patients by examining thoroughly. Appropriate clinical, laboratory, and other pertinent data is obtained to determine care the patient is provided. Assess needs for renal replacement therapies.
3. Diagnosis: Ability to interpret and evaluate clinical data for the purpose of determining diagnosis and clinical status. Able to manage patients with kidney diseases, including but not limited to Chronic Kidney Disease, electrolyte disorders, glomerulonephritis (both primary and secondary), resistant hypertension, recurrent nephrolithiasis, and renal transplantation.
4. Therapeutic ability: Prescribes appropriate and timely treatment; applies indicated therapeutic procedures; recognizes and assess changes in behavior, symptoms, signs, and other pertinent facts about the patient and modifies the plan of treatment when indicated. Be proficient in various dialysis modalities, including Continuous Renal Replacement Therapies.
