We are seeking a dedicated Team Member to join our maintenance team. In this role, you will help achieve set production targets and ensure our customers receive the best possible service by maintaining a reliable and excellently serviced fleet.
As a Team Member, formal qualifications in Engineering are not required; however, motivation and basic technical skills are beneficial. Your responsibilities will include maintaining and organising the Fleet 225 and Azuma train units, according to established standards and procedures. You will also play an active role within the Northern Team, contributing to our collective success.
You’ll need to work a range of shifts, from the early hours of the morning until late at night, plus weekends and Bank Holidays, it’s vital that you’re flexible and that you live within 60 minutes’ drive of our TrainCare Centre.

Key responsibilities:
This is a varied and challenging role, but here is a taste of what your day-to-day activities could include:
Maintaining and servicing our trains to ensure they are safe to go into service for our colleagues and passengers and checking that the train environment is up to our market leading standards
Ensuring you keep people safe; you will be trained in and follow all the relevant health and safety requirements.
Assisting skilled Engineers in the maintaining of all Fleet 225 and Azuma Trains.
You’ll keep our trains in a safe condition to allow colleagues to carry out their duties
Training for all fleet and systems will be given but you must be willing to play an active role in your development.
FLT training will be provided as driving the FLT is part of this role.
Carry out shift routines to ensure daily used materials are sufficient and stored safely and correctly
About You:
No formal qualification in Engineering is required, as we will provide the necessary training. However, having some basic technical skills in mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and vehicle building would be advantageous. Successful candidates should be willing to actively engage in their own appraisal, training, and development. A commitment to providing excellent service through efficiency, high standards, and, most importantly, safety is essential.
To thrive in this role, you will need to have excellent teamwork abilities and strong communication skills to ensure that all work is completed accurately, and nothing is missed.

Can prioritise and adapt to changes while managing their day-to-day workload.
Show initiative when necessary, while adhering to our working policies.
Stay calm and think on their feet in challenging situations.
Are dedicated and confident in communicating and building relationships with a diverse range of people to ensure smooth operations.
