As a Facilities Management Specialist, you will:
- Responsible for all technical and functional control over a full range of facility management operational activities.
- Coordinate with the NAVSEA, NDW, DOE and support contractors to perform minor and major construction tasks, secure funding documents to pay for work once a cost estimate is prepared and addresses and completes security issues to permit the contractor or support personnel to come on-site and perform the work.
- Establish requirements and assignments for planned work by setting priorities, preparing schedules for work completion, and ensuring the work is completed timely and satisfactorily.
- Monitor progress, ensuring all issues are promptly resolved and the work performance specifications are met in accordance with contract/established requirements.
- Furnish expert advice regarding difficult and unique facility management issues. Resolve issues that are causing the work schedule to be adversely impacted.
- Highlight potential issues to management, always ensuring the safety of building personnel.
- Track and complete remedy actions.
- Develop and execute programs that comply with all current Federal regulations, policies, and procedures.
- Attend meetings with management officials to plan and prioritize short- and long-range projects and programs.
- Serve as building fire prevention supervisor, monitor janitorial support contractor, establish physical security and hardware development and keying systems, coordinate HVAC support and monitor system operations, perform hands-on repairs, and instruct support personnel for increased quality of job accomplishment and oversee the recycling program.
- Provide direction and review, continuity of control and related guidance for obtaining support services required by offices, including mail disbursement and receipt, correspondence control, physical security, and audio visual and copier maintenance.
- Directly supervises assigned personnel in support of the duties listed above (more than 25% of time). Plan work to be accomplished. Identify developmental and training needs of employees. Establish performance objectives and evaluate employee performance. Give advice, counsel, or instruction to subordinates. Resolve employee issues or refers to higher managerial level. Initiate corrective action. Recommend appointment, reassignment, promotion, and awards. Approve leave requests.
